Current TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young spoke with the Between The Ropes radio show last week. Here are some interview highlights:
On how he celebrated his TNA World Title win: “To be honest, I had a couple beers at Friday’s. I actually treated myself and got Tostito nachos because I wanted to live on the wild side and then I went to sleep.”
On winning the TNA World title: “It’s cool to share that with a bunch of my buddies backstage. Being there for so long and working with so many people. A lot of people don’t get to see coming through the curtain and having everybody there standing and clapping, that huge having the admiration of your peers. The crowd doesn’t get to see that. It’s really special.”
On TNA’s current creative direction: “I feel its strong as its been in a long time. There is real direction and and real choice and vision of where they are trying to go. From day one, since 2003, there have been people saying ‘oh this is it they are going to lose their tv deal’ and whatnot. Listen, we are seen in over 120 countries, we do great numbers in tons of countries. We do good numbers in the US for Spike TV. We aren’t going anywhere. We have been here for over 10 years. We are still a young company. There are going to be growing pains in any company. “
