Comcast, which owns WWE’s current broadcast partner in NBC/Universal, has announced via press release following a report by CNBC that they are Time Warner Cable. The deal is worth $45.2 billion and if it is approved by anti-trust regulators will make the resulting company the largest cable company in US history.
As previously reported, WWE is in negotiations with NBC/Universal in regard to their programming, and the exclusive negotiating window has ended. Comcast still has the right to match any offer made to WWE. Whether the Time Warner deal will have any effect on the WWE/Comcast negotiations is not known.
