‘The Wrestler’ News & Notes, CM Punk, Mysterio, NWA, & More

For those of you who missed Mickey Rourke’s acceptance speech after winning the Best Actor in a Drama Award at the Golden Globes last night, TMZ has the video up. His speech was edited for the West Coast airing of the show, particularly his exchange with director Darren Aronofsky.

The Los Angeles Times has an article up on the Rourke acceptance speech, Aronofsky flipping his middle finger on camera, and NBC failing to censor it.

The DVD release for The Wrestler will happen in March or April at the earliest.

JBL will be making an appearance for OVW on January 27th to face Vaughn Lilas in a steel cage match. Lilas won an hour-long battle royal to earn the right to face JBL. This will not be for a TV taping.

Governor M. Jodi Rell has named Linda McMahon to the Connecticut Board of Education. According to Rell, “Linda clearly understands the skills and education needed to succeed in business and the type of highly educated and skilled workforce that must be available to ensure that success”.

The “Heroes of World Class” DVD will be getting a Blu-Ray release on March 10th.

The NWA should be sending out an announcement, regarding the Hollywood, California TV tapings later this week. The tapings are looking like they will be held in February.

Big Vision Entertainment will be releasing “Before they Were Stars: Matt Sydal” on January 20th. Big Vision has done similar DVD for Rey Mysterio, CM Punk and Samoa Joe.
