MAKE BELIEVE MEDIA’S FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY
‘THIS WRESTLING LIFE’ lays the smackdown on iTunes in the United States and celebrates Canada Day on Super Channel in Canada.
Vancouver, BC. Make Believe Media is pleased to announce that their feature length documentary
THIS WRESTLING LIFE is available to own ($7.99) or rent ($4.99) in high-definition on iTunes in the United States.
The film will also be a part of Super Channel’s Canada Celebration on July 1st at 9:15 am EST/6:15am PST on Super Channel 2 (ask your Canadian cable provider for a free trial).
THIS WRESTLING LIFE was written, filmed & directed by Stephen Gillis, produced by Rodney Ruel, and executive produced by Lynn Booth for Make Believe Media.
The film features ECCW (Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling) co-owner and star Scotty Mac, and trainees Travis Neiken aka Volt Vegas, Natalie Harrison aka KC Spinelli (Wipeout Canada, Lance Storm ‘s World of Hurt), and Bill Taylor aka Bill Taylor.
This Wrestling Life follows the trials and tribulations of three wannabe pro wrestlers as they pursue their dream of becoming global superstars under the tutelage of the territory’s biggest star. Audiences get an unprecedented all access pass into the bizarre lives of Travis, Bill, Natalie and Scotty Mac as they take us inside the SLAM ACADEMY. Their stories are unscripted and far from fake.
In the down and out suburbs of Surrey we find North America’s next hotbed of WWEstyle pro wrestling. Our emerging wrestlers get down and dirty at the SLAM ACADEMY as veteran wrestler Scotty Mac puts them to the test. This group of loveable misfits negotiate their way through a world full of rituals and rules. Over the course of a year we join the ranks and ride the many ups and downs at one of the top independent wrestling schools in North America.
“This Wrestling Life allows you to truly see what it is like to pursue your dreams, how difficult it really is, and all the sacrifices you need to make. Wrestling fans will see how hard it is to succeed in the independents let alone the WWE. Our time with each subject is very intimate, you go through the journey with them,” says writer/director Stephen Gillis.
In this “fend for yourself ” industry, where everyone is trying to make it to the top, loyalty, honor, and friendship are not common traits. However, the relationships among these newcomers, and the veterans that mentor them, reveals a much more human side of this often-misconstrued world. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s This Wrestling Life.
