AEW’s Streaming Viewership on MAX Reportedly Around 500,000 Viewers Per Dynamite Show

AEW reportedly is currently averaging around 500,000 viewers per AEW Dynamite simulcast show on MAX, according to SEScoops.com.

BJ Bethal reported that his sources stated that AEW has been averaging this number for their AEW Dynamite shows since the show debuted on Warner Bros Discovery’s MAX service this past January.

Bethal also reported that when combined with their live cable ratings numbers, AEW is currently averaging around 1 million to 1.2 million per episode on MAX.

Bethal also reported that there have been large deviations week to week which have affected total streaming minutes for AEW’s Dynamite. Those spoken to reportedly stated that Dynamite is currently averaging around 60 million minutes watched per show with a deviation of plus/minus 10 to 20 percent depending on the episode and competition. Bethal reported that this results in an average of 500,000 viewers per episode when taking Live-Plus-1, which is a combination of viewers who watched live and up to 24 hours later on the service.

In regards to MAX’s subscriber base, Bethal reported that estimates from several companies are that MAX has around 60 million in the United States this year. TBS had around 72 million homes in 2023 and that number is expected to be lower in 2025 due to the continued decline in the number of cable homes in the United States per year.

Those spoken to within WBD last year reportedly stated that WBD officials were impressed with AEW’s performances for their shows on TBS and TNT.

Those spoken to reportedly also stated that AEW has regularly out-performed some major hockey games on MAX while NBA games on MAX have averaged around 1.7 million to 2 million viewers depending on the matchups and competition.

Those same sources spoken to reportedly also stated that AEW’s numbers are far from top streaming programs on MAX, such as Daredevil: Born Again and Agatha All Along which generate around 7 to 10 million viewers per episode on the service.

One source spoken to who corroborated the numbers reportedly stated that they expect AEW to face strong competition through the spring including the new season of Andor Star War series and WWE entering their WrestleMania season for WrestleMania 41.

This same source reportedly also stated “Many of the top execs don’t know the overall numbers. Whether its total minutes watched. Viewers who have watched the total show. (They) can make correlations but what streamers look for is quite different from cable or OTA where numbers are there to satisfy advertisers.”
