Mercedes Mone Comments on Her Current Plans for Her Post In-Ring Wrestling Career

A recent episode of The Sackhoff Show podcast featured Mercedes Mone as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Mone’s thoughts about the future of her wrestling career and her interest in working as a backstage producer or coach for her post in-ring career.

“That scares me, I don’t want to think about the word ‘retirement.’ But I do think about slowing down. Because I’ve been doing it for so long, and aches and pains start to catch up and different dreams start to happen. Life starts to grow and I just have so many more dreams that I want to go pursue, and chase, and go accomplish while I still can being young and feeling good and having my body feel good. I don’t want to put a timeframe of when that exact moment I will slow down, but I know sooner than later I definitely want to take more time to pursue other things and just really set that place of — What am I going to do when I’m done wrestling? What’s going to bring me the most joy? What is still my passion?

And I still love this business so much. So I always want to be a part of it, whether that’s being a producer or coach, which is putting the matches together and creating something. Or just always being involved with that. I really enjoy the process of creating and forming matches. And I feel like I’m really good at that, especially for a woman. So I feel like, for when I’m done with wrestling, that’s an aspect or an avenue that I want to go into. But right now I’m just on this journey of making women’s wrestling global.”

Mone also gave her thoughts about her love of wrestling being the one thing she wishes fans knew the most about her.

“I don’t know if people ever know how much I love wrestling. I give it everything. It’s my whole life, it’s my world. I just want fans to know, it’s like legit my everything. It’s why I’m here, to really make a difference in this sport — especially for women. But I just wish fans would know how much I love wrestling and how much passion I have for this.”

They said, ‘Fine, do it.’ So when I went to WWE, I told them I was going to work for AEW, and they gave me their blessing. In a recent interview with BodySlam.net, Preston Vance gave his thoughts about the end of his time as a member of the La Faccion Ingobernable stable. Vance stated “I’ll be honest, I don’t even have an answer. I have no idea. RUSH doesn’t know. Yeah, that is one thing I am, I don’t want to say bitter because I’m not bitter, I think everything happens for a reason, but I’m confused on why it was so short-lived because I feel like we were getting some steam. I don’t know. Like I said, everything does happen for a reason, so I’m not mad about it, I’m not bitter about it. Just more like, ‘Hm, I don’t have the answers, and I don’t know if I’ll ever get them.’ But I’m still very thankful for that time working with him. I have kind of stole some stuff from RUSH, how he does stuff in the ring. I take everything as a learning experience.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
