WWE SmackDown Notes: The Rock Asks Cody Rhodes to be His Personal Champion & Wanting to Own His Soul, The Rock to Appear at Elimination Chamber 2025

The Rock Wants Cody Rhodes to be His Personal Champion & Wanting to Own His Soul on Friday’s WWE SmackDown Show

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana featured “The Final Boss” The Rock asking current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to be his personal champion and to also own “his soul.”

During the show, The Rock came out to the ring. After officially announcing that next year’s WrestleMania 42 event will be taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana, The Rock asked for Rhodes to come out to the ring. This led to Rhodes’ music playing and him coming out to the ring in response.

After some initial banter between the two, The Rock talked about how they have become good friends since last year’s WrestleMania and how he praised Rhodes the last time they were together on he RAW Netflix premiere show. After some more words by The Rock about him becoming buddies with Rhodes and how their mothers have become good friends, The Rock talked about how Rhodes has been a great champion but reminded him that he is on the board of TKO and TKO owns WWE. This led to some more rambling by The Rock before getting to his point about how he wants Cody to be something more than a great champion and more than “Our” Champion, he wants Cody to be his champion.

This led to Rhodes responding stating that he didn’t expect to become friends with The Rock or for their moms to become friends and asked The Rock what he means by “your” Champion. Rhodes then looked at the crowd and stated that he is “their” champion.

This led to some more rambling by The Rock in response before talking about if Rhodes became his champion, he could open doors never known to you and every dream you, your wife, and little baby girl could come true.

After some more words, The Rock stated that what he wants bit never had is a brother and that is what Rhodes could be. The Rock then brought up how his goal last year was to face his cousin at WrestleMania and how Rhodes messed it all up. The Rock then talked about how Rhodes stood up to him and slapped him and no one gets away with that. The Rock then stated that this is why Rhodes is special and why you should be His Champion. The Rock stated that he will take Cody to a different level and how their fathers are looking down at them. The Rock stated that their fathers were friends and we are friends. The Rock then told Rhodes to go home and think about it. The Rock stated that he wants Cody to talk to his family first and he wants his answer at Elimination Chamber.

The Rock then stated that before he leaves, the one thing he wants more than anything else in the world is “that”, which was him pointing to Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE title. Rhodes responded back asking if The Rock is talking about the title and if this is what this is all about. The Rock responded stating that he doesn’t want the title, he wants Cody’s soul.

The Rock then left the ring and gave a smirk to Rhodes as Rhodes looked on confused over what just happened.

Following the segment, it was confirmed that The Rock will be making an appearance at the Elimination Chamber 2025 event on March 1st in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
