Tony Schiavone Confirms Family Reason for His 1/8 Dynamite Show Absence
As noted before, AEW commentator Tony Schiavone was noticeably absent from last week’s AEW Dynamite show in Clarksville, Tennessee. Schiavone’s absence was initially rumored to be due to him being punished over a controversial tweet he made against NJPW English commentator Chris Charlton over controversial anti-AEW comments Charlton made during NJPW and AEW’s Wrestle Dynasty event. Schiavone’s absence was later revealed to have been due to a family-related issue.
A recent episode of the What Happened When with Tony Schiavone podcast featured co-host Schiavone providing an update on his absence from last week’s Dynamite show and confirmed it was due to a family-related issue involving his wife undergoing hip replacement surgery.
“Couldn’t have been it, no. No, as a matter of fact, she got out of the hospital on Wednesday, and so I just let her walk home from the hospital instead of picking her up, and I went to TV and got suspended. But she made it home about six hours later.”
