WWE: Kevin Owens on Claiming Himself As ‘New, True WWE Champion’, Jesse Ventura on His WWE SNME Return, AJ Francis on Interest in Potential Future WWE Return

Kevin Owens Claims Himself as “New, True WWE Champion”

As noted before, this past Saturday’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show in Uniondale, New York was notable for a post-match angle that involved Kevin Owens attacking Cody Rhodes resulting in Rhodes suffering a storyline injury and Owens leaving with the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Owens announced earlier today on Twitter that he has declared himself as the new and true WWE Champion. Owens also posted a graphic of an upcoming WWE Holiday Tour schedule with his face over Rhodes face for Rhodes’ body on the graphic.

“BALLZ!!!

Now that I have your attention, I have great news for you all!

I am proud to officially announce that I will be competing in my first matches as your new, true WWE Champion on this year’s Holiday loop (that’s a term people in “the business” use that refers to a string of consecutive shows in different cities over a short period of time) starting in Jacksonville on the 26th, followed by 3 more shows in Florida and then one in Detroit for some reason.

Be there to witness history!

Oh, the Raw crew has shows too. Whatever.”

Jesse “The Body” Ventura Comments on His Return to WWE Commentary at This Past Saturday’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Show

This past Saturday’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show also featured WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura making his official return appearance to WWE’s commentary team.

Ventura reflected on Substack about his recent return to commentary in WWE.

“First of all it was truly an honor to come back home to the WWE. First off, I have to thank my son, Tyrel Ventura, for putting the wheels in motion last summer. It’s been such an incredible feeling to return to the place where my career essentially began or, more accurately, really took off from.

A few thoughts on the new regime at the WWE. The biggest thing I noticed was how different the energy and vibe is backstage. You don’t feel a battle of ego’s like you often did back in my day. From the executive level to the locker room level you instead feel a very strong sense of teamwork and creativity. Everyone is running in the same direction. Fueled by a desire to see everyone succeed, not just themselves. I think this speaks volumes about the leadership of Paul “HHH” Levesque.

I think Paul, Nick Kahn, and the team at WWE are creating a truly incredible and unique environment unlike any I have seen before in the world of wrestling.”

AJ Francis Comments on His Interest in Potential Future WWE Return

As noted before, AJ Francis’ contract with TNA Wrestling is currently set to expire at the end of this year.

Wrestleholics held a recent interview with Francis. One of the topics discussed included Francis’ thoughts about his interest in a potential return to WWE in the future.

“Yeah, I would love to do some work in NXT and go back to WWE. That would be great. I’d love to be in a Royal Rumble. But they got my number. They had it the two times they fired my ass. If he could pick, what would he want to do.”

Francis also gave his thoughts about who he would like to help in WWE for a potential return to the company.

“I’d love to help Montez [Ford] and Dawks and B-Fab. They seem to be getting jumped and getting their ass whooped. They need a little backup. I’d love to come help Ashante [Adonis]. He got a little love triangle situation going on, and I’ve seen how that pans out for a lot of men. I’d love to be there to have my brother’s back in that situation. I think it would be cool to add another credible challenger for Trick. Trick is in the middle of another great NXT Title run, and it’s looking like he’s about to face Oba Femi, which is cool. I’d love to wrestle Oba Femi. Oba Femi be bullying these boys. I’m bigger than Oba. So there’s a lot of things that could be really cool when I go back. I would love to fight AJ Styles for the right to be named AJ. I would love. There’s a million things that I could do, but at the end of the day, until they make the call…”
