Jesse Ventura on Decision for His WWE Commentary Return
As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura signed a new Legends contract with WWE this past October. Besides his Legends deal, Ventura will be returning to WWE’s commentary team for their Saturday Night’s Main Event shows.
The New York Post held a recent interview with Ventura. One of the topics discussed included Ventura’s thoughts about the process that led to his return to WWE. Ventura revealed that his son Tyrel had helped brokered the deal as his agent.
“He’s very qualified for it. He used to be Sean Penn’s assistant, so he has experience.
My son was a fan of wrestling and a fan of myself growing up, so he took it upon himself to make some contact with the new ownership and they started talking.
One thing led to another, and I realized they were under new ownership and I wasn’t going to be held to the old standard of why I got kicked out before. Lo and behold it happened. I’ll tell you this: I did it selfishly for my kids. I’m 73 now. I ain’t gonna be around forever. I want to position it where if anybody makes money off my name, I want my kids to have a piece of it.”
Ventura also gave his thoughts about his upcoming return to WWE’s commentary for the revival of their Saturday Night’s Main Event television series.
“With Saturday Night’s Main Event coming back after 40 years, somebody said, ‘We need Jesse for this.’ Because we had already negotiated the Legends deal, it wasn’t a big deal to negotiate this. The ice had been broken and now hell has frozen over.”
WWE’s Original Plans for Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed Feud
As noted before, Bronson Reed has been out of action for WWE since this past November due to a broken foot injury suffered during the Men’s WarGames match at WWE’s Survivor Series WarGames 2024 event.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE officials original plans for Reed’s feud with Seth Rollins was for the feud to end with a final match between the two at tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event show in Uniondale, New York.
Johnson reported that Reed’s injury caused those plans to be dropped and WWE officials bringing back Drew McIntyre sooner than initially planned to start a feud with Sami Zayn. This reportedly was the reason why WWE officials booked a match between McIntyre and Zayn for their Saturday Night’s Main Event show to be the replacement match for the show’s card.
WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2024 PPV Buys Update
