Jimmy Uso Broken Toe & Bronson Reed Ankle Injuries Update – WWE Confirms Uso’s Broken Toe & Revealed Reed Suffered Broken Foot
As noted before, Jimmy Uso suffered a broken toe injury and Bronson Reed suffered an ankle injury during the Men’s WarGames match at last Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2024 event in Vancouver, Canada. Besides Uso and Reed, Tonga Loa was also revealed to have suffered a torn biceps injury.
During Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Minneapolis, Minnesota, WWE provided injury updates confirming Uso’s broken toe injury and stated that he will be out of action for an indefinite amount of time.
In regards to Reed, it was announced that Reed had suffered a broken foot injury. It was also announced that Reed will also be out of action for an indefinite amount of time.
Sheamus Cracked Ribs Injury Status Update
As noted before, WWE recently announced that Sheamus had suffered a cracked ribs injury at last Saturday’s Survivor Series WarGames 2024 event in Vancouver, Canada.
Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources have yet to confirm if Sheamus’ injury is legitimate or just for storyline purposes due to the way WWE had just quickly mentioned it in passing and did not emphasized it at all during this past Monday’s WWE RAW show.
More on NXT Dec. 4, 2024 Viewership
The December 4th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT suffer a large decline in overall viewership and a slight decline in key demographic ratings.
NXT drew 593,000 viewers and a 0.13 key demographic rating on The CW.
Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reasons for NXT’s declines this week was due to the large declines from their older key demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. Another reason reportedly was due to the declines from their female key demographic viewership group, which its percentage was not given. This reportedly offset the gains from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 11.1% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of head-to-head competition, the CMA Country Christmas show drew 3,872,000 viewers on ABC, the NBA game of Orlando Magic vs. New York Knicks drew 956,000 viewers on TNT, the College basketball game of Syracuse vs. Tennessee drew 787,000 viewers on ESPN, 1000-LB Sisters drew 862,000 viewers on TLC, Curse of Oak Island drew 1,818,000 viewers on History Channel, Moonshiners drew 758,000 viewers on Discovery Channel, Real Housewives of New York City drew 380,000 viewers on BRAVO, and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drew 714,000 viewers on BRAVO.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 168,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that NXT’s male/female viewership skew was 76% in favor of males. Meltzer also reported that the reason for the very high male viewership skew was due to this week’s NXT show drew an average of 1.28 viewers per home meaning a very high single males audience watched the show.
In terms of viewership peaks, NXT’s peak overall viewership was at 669,000 viewers for the first quarter featuring the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier Last Chance Fatal Four-way match of Jaida Parker vs. Wren Sinclair vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Cora Jade. NXT’s peak key demographic viewership was at 187,000 viewers for the quarter hour featuring the NXT Tag Team Championship #1 Contender Battle Royal match and the Eric Bischoff entrance for the Bischoff, Trick Williams, & Ridge Holland promo & brawl segment.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was down 5.3% in overall viewership and down 33.3% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that NXT’s 18-34 key demographic viewership was down 44.4% compared to the same week last year.
WWE News & Notes
WWE reportedly has sold and distributed around 1,522 tickets for tonight’s NXT Deadline 2024 event at the Minneapolis Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota as of this past Thursday, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
As noted before, Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Minneapolis featured the official announcement of WWE currently holding a transfer window for their RAW, SmackDown, and NXT brand Superstars. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE talents had been talking about backstage for the past month that there could be a new WWE Draft held in early 2025. Johnson reported that those spoken to have yet to confirm 100% if that is the current plans for how WWE will move talents across their brands for this transfer window period.
Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Minneapolis also featured WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura being among those shown in attendance.
As noted before, WWE recently announced that WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura will be making his official return to WWE commentary for their Saturday Night’s Main Event Show on December 14th in Uniondale, New York. Ventura recently reflected on Twitter about his upcoming return to WWE commentary. Ventura stated “It’s an honor to be back. Thank you @TripleH for making the impossible possible. Looking forward to entertaining all my old wrestling fans and making brand new ones.“
WWE recently announced that next year’s Royal Rumble event at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana will be airing at an earlier than usual start time of 6PM EST for the main card. This will be the third straight WWE PLE to air at a 6PM EST instead of a 7PM EST start time.
As noted before, Gunther is currently believed to be in the process of finalizing a new contract with WWE to remain in the company for the foreseeable future. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that the reports about Gunther’s talks for a new deal are accurate. Meltzer reported that Gunther is currently believed to have recently signed a new deal or has agreed to terms and is very close to making it official.
WWE recently released two new videos to their WWE Vault channel on YouTube. The first new video was a “Sights and sounds of AWA WrestleRock 1986.” The second new video was a WWE Women’s Championship match of Lita vs. Trish Stratus from the December 6, 2004 episode of WWE RAW.
This past November’s Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing event in Arlington, Texas for Netflix was notable for dealing with serious connection and feed issues throughout the show’s main card. In a recent media event held by Netflix in Los Angeles, Netflix CCO Bela Bajaria stated that the company has fixed their buffering issues that plagued the Tyson vs. Paul boxing event and promised the same will not happen for their Christmas Day NFL game and WWE RAW’s move to their service. Bajaria stated “It was a big number, but you don’t know, and you can’t learn these things until you do them, so you take a big swing. Our teams and our engineers are amazing, moved super quickly, and stabilized it, and many of the members had it back up and running pretty quickly. But we learn from these things.
