As noted before, United Empire’s HENARE and Callum Newman both suffered knee injuries at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s World Tag League 2024 event in Nobeoka, Japan and were pulled from Friday’s World Tag League 2024 event in Satsumasendai.
Following United Empire’s loss to Los Ingobernables De Japon in a Six-Man Tag Team match at Friday’s show, Great-O-Khan announced in a backstage post-match press conference that he and HENARE will be vacating their IWGP Tag Team Championship due to HENARE’s injury situation.
Khan also stated that their match against The Young Bucks at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty event has been canceled as well due to HENARE not being able to compete.
“We were the sole leader in the WTL and were the closest to winning. However, [HENARE] was injured the day before the final match and lost everything. I will probably have to give up the belt. The January 5th Tokyo Dome will also be canceled.”
