Ricochet Comments on Working with Younger Talent in AEW & Learning from Each Other

A recent episode of the Casual Conversations with The Classic podcast featured Ricochet as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Ricochet’s thoughts about him being a veteran now and working with younger talent in AEW who were influenced by his style of wrestling.

“It’s been awesome. Yeah, they absolutely pick my brain, they ask questions, they want to know things. But I still am asking them questions. Again, because wrestling is evolving. Like you said, they’re trying to bring our style up.

So we’re all learning from each other still. As much as they can learn from me, I’m still learning from them. And the same goes for like — you know, I’m still learning from guys like Adam [Copeland] and Christian [Cage]. And Dean Malenko is there. And Chris Jericho is there. And all those guys are there I’m still learning from, at the same time I’m learning from the Nick Waynes and so on. So it’s cool to see how the learning goes both ways.”

QT Marshall Comments on Currently Not Having a Wrestling Contract with AEW

A recent episode of My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox podcast featured QT Marshall as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Marshall’s thoughts about his match with Big Boom AJ at AEW’s Full Gear 2024 event and stated that he still does not have a wrestling contract with AEW.

“Next for me, I don’t know. I was speaking with Tony. I think I’m onto something with the whole Doom thing [laughs]. I hate the fact that it was just copying what he had, or being the bizarro world against what he had, but at the end of the day, I think that whole presentation, it might have clicked a little bit for myself but also for the audience, and I kind of felt like I was in my own, so maybe we’ll stick to that. I don’t know. I still don’t even have a wrestling contract. So I’m not sure. I’d love to wrestle once in a while, as long as it doesn’t take away from the backstage role. But yeah, if it were up to me, maybe I’d wrestle a little bit more.

Who knows? We’ll see. Like I said, take it one day at a time. I’m still enjoying what happened [at AEW Full Gear], so we’ll see. I think I still gotta talk to Tony and see what he has in mind. I’m hoping that I don’t have to go to him and pitch anything. I think it’d be great if he came to me and said, ‘Hey, you know what I think::.’ That would be really cool. But with the roster that we have and the great talent that we have, I’m not holding my breath [laughs], so we’ll see.”

Marshall also gave his thoughts about his belief that his match against Big Boom AJ at AEW Full Gear 2024 will go down as one of the best ever pre-show matches of all-time in wrestling.

“I think we did a really good job of keeping everybody connected until the end, and that’s the biggest testament to what we did, and I think you could tell, like I said, people are saying, ‘Give QT his flowers,’ and all these other things. That’s great, I love it, but at the end of the day, the live audience will tell you everything you need to know. I think we were very fortunate that we had a great live audience in New Jersey that night, they were into everything that we did, and it really made a huge difference in the match. I think it’ll go down as one of the best pre-show matches of all time. It has its own video right now, and it’s up to 400,000 views. That’s more than some of the pre-shows. So that’s a real testament to the following that AJ has.”
