Various: Kevin Nash Herniated Discs Injury Update, NJPW Confirms IWGP Women’s Title Match for Wrestle Kingdom 19, Sareee vs. Meiko Satomura Set for Sareee-ISM Chapter VI

Kevin Nash Herniated Discs Injury Status Update

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently suffered a herniated discs injury that prevented him from being able to travel and attend his scheduled bookings earlier this month.

A recent episode of the Kliq This podcast featured co-host Nash providing an update on several injuries issues he has been dealing with. Nash stated that he had recently underwent shoulder surgery to repair his shoulder issues.

“I went in there today, and he went through the whole thing. He showed me all my different rotator cuffs, then he showed me a pretty decent bone spur on the end of my humerus, which I found nothing funny (about).

He just said that I have so much arthritis that probably what happened was there was an area that looked like scar tissue that I had broken loose. I had some cysts and some bone spurs that they cut all the way through so I think that is what split.

I was actually having a hard time pulling up a pair of shorts on my left side, but since I’ve done this, like, the first day I got up, I pulled my underwear on, I was just like, there’s no pain on the back of my shoulder.”

Nash also provided an update on his herniated discs injury stating that he will be undergoing minimally invasive surgery to deal with stenosis issues in his spine.

“I talked to the spinal surgeon, and they’ll be able to just go in, like the f—in size of a McDonald’s straw, and take that piece of bone out. Minimally invasive procedure.

There’s only so much you can do with stenosis with stem cell, but my shoulder right now, it will flourish because all that tendinitis and all that wear and tear, that stem cell will give that a nice (shot).”

NJPW Confirms AZM vs. Mayu Iwatani for IWGP Women’s Title for Wrestle Kingdom 19

This past Sunday’s NJPW x Stardom Historic X-Over II event in Osaka, Japan featured the announcement of an IWGP Women’s Championship match of AZM vs. Mayu Iwatani (c) for the card of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 19 event on January 4, 2025.

Official press release:

IWGP Women’s title match set for Wrestle Kingdom 19!

Mayu to face AZM in Tokyo Dome

Another championship matchuip has been added to Wrestle Kingdom, as for the first time in two years and the second time in history, the IWGP Women’s Championship will be defended in the Tokyo Dome.

After Mayu Iwatani successfully retained her gold against Momo Watanabe at Historic X-Over 2 November 17, the Icon expressed her anger and frustration at not being able to have a title defence in the Dome this year. Wanting to make up for that lost opportunity, Iwatani demanded a match on January 4. AZM, victorious earlier on the night, and already having staked a strong claim to the gold with a win over Iwatani during the 5 ☆ Grand Prix tournament, stepped up to Mayu and now gets her shot on the grandest stage in professional wrestling. Can the High Speed queen take down the Icon?
