Mercedes Mone Comments on Potential of AEW Holding All-Women’s PPV Event in the Future
A recent episode of the Battleground Podcast featured Mercedes Mone as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Mone’s thoughts about the potential of AEW holding an all-women’s pay-per-view event in the future.
“Because we have the best women’s wrestlers. We have a roster full of wrestlers, we have a long list of women that we can have an all-woman pay-per-view, so I think just given the chance and the opportunity, and if Tony sees that, I don’t see why not, we can a women’s revolution here in AEW. It’s happening already. The women have just been killing it out of the park every single week. I am just beyond amazed to be a part of this women’s division, from Willow and Kris Statlander, that Street Fight Alone, I was just like wow, and Willow and Mariah May, it’s been so amazing, and yeah, I think an all-woman pay-per-view here would be incredible. It would definitely make a lot of Mone.”

The Iron Savages’ Bulk Bronson recently reflected on Twitter about his appreciation of AEW encouraging wrestlers to be their authentic selves and put their own spin on their characters in the company. Bronson stated “We are heavily encouraged by @AEW to be our authentic selves and trusted to put our own spin on our characters. There have been times on TV I thought I was being too over the top, only to be told afterwards ‘We feel like you’re holding back, show us more of that & turn it up!’“
In a recent episode of the Battleground Podcast, Orange Cassidy gave his thoughts about his interest in potentially competing in the Continental Classic tournament in AEW. Cassidy stated “That is a tournament that will have to live up to what happened last year. It was one of the greatest wrestling tournaments that I think I’ve seen. The talent that was in there, those matches were incredible. I definitely would like to be a part of that. I would definitely like to try and see if I could go undefeated [laughs]. No, no, I definitely would love to be a part of that tournament. I’m just nervous about who’s gonna be in it because the roster got even better after last year.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
As noted before, this past Monday’s Monday’s Power Struggle 2024 event for New Japan Pro Wrestling featured Kenny Omega making an appearance and announced his upcoming in-ring return from diverticulitis. Omega’s appearance was also notable for him being involved in a storyline backstage altercation with Gabe Kidd. In a recent interview with Tokyo Sports, Omega gave his thoughts about how his recent backstage altercation with Kidd reminded him of another infamous backstage altercation he was involved with in AEW, referencing the altercation with CM Punk at AEW All Out 2022. Omega stated “When we first met, I was able to greet (Robbie) X properly. But then Gabe said something like, ‘Who the hell do you think you are, thinking you want to enter this promotion when you want to?’… It’s true that I’d gotten Gabe’s name wrong in an interview before, and that was my fault. But then he suddenly pushed me and took a fighting stance. I immediately remembered the incident that happened in AEW. I won’t say his name, but I thought that Gabe was unfit to be a professional, just like that guy. He said a lot of bad things about AEW, but that’s irrelevant now. For now, I can’t trust Gabe. I’m not the vice president of New Japan, and I needed to protect my own safety. I had heard a lot of rumors about Gabe, so I felt it was dangerous. In the end, I was the one to make the first move, but that was to protect myself.“
In a recent interview with the Talk Is Jericho podcast, Big Bill praised former WCW and WWE wrestler Shannon Moore for helping him through his alcoholism recovery in 2020. Bill stated “January 2020, I went to rehab for the final time. Shannon Moore, works with WWE recovery, he is a Godsend. That guy has saved so many lives. He deserves all the credit in the world. He was huge and instrumental with me. He got me back into rehab a few times. This time, I was watching the Super Bowl, the one where Pat Mahomes finally won his first, I was looking around like, ‘These people are all fucking losers. I’m not like them. I’m leaving.’ I left and went back to my room. I told Shannon, ‘I’m leaving. This is not me.’ Little did I know, I’m just like these people. He said to me, ‘You owe me. I’ve done so much for you. You owe me one more week. One more week. If you want to leave next Sunday, you can leave, but you owe me at least one more week after all the shit I’ve gone through for you.’ I agreed, and that week, something clicked. I completely surrendered, as they say. Just gave up and gave in. I was told, ‘Just stop fighting people.’ Not mentally fighting people, but what you’re told to do, just do it. ‘Go clean up this trash.’ ‘Why? What is the purpose?’ Stop asking what purpose does it serve and just go do it. Something clicked that week and that’s when everything started getting better. I finally gave in to the program, which I thought was stupid prior to that and I hated going to meetings. I finally realized these people are just like me. Everyone’s stories are a little different, but the blueprint is exactly the same for everybody in here. Finally, I started listening to people, got a sponsor, did everything I was told, and I guess that was the beginning of my next journey, which was coming back to wrestling. Getting sober was the hardest thing I’ve done in my life, but it was the best thing I’ve done. It’s like I have a new lease on life now. I’m not killing myself with alcohol, and I have a second chance.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
