Kenny Omega Comments on “I’m Not Who I Used To Be, I’m Not Sure What Kind Of Person Will Be Making A Comeback”
As noted before, Kenny Omega recently announced that he will be making his in-ring return from diverticulitis at AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s upcoming co-promoted Wrestle Dynasty event in January 5, 2025 in Japan.
Following his appearance, Omega gave his thoughts about his upcoming in-ring return during a backstage press conference at the show.
“Yeah. So I went out there not knowing what I was gonna say. Said what I said and I meant what I said. It’s been tough dealing with all of this, the injury, the sickness. But, I feel about ready to come back. For the fans here in Japan, for the fans worldwide, I want to make it something special. I want to come back to the place that made me me, the reason why a lot of people even know who I am is because of [NJPW]. If I do come back, I’d love to come back for New Japan. I’m not who I used to be. I’m not sure what kind of person will be making a comeback but I’m going to give him my best shot. If guys like Tanahashi can go as long as he can go, I need to have that same spirit and fight and fight and fight and fight until I can’t fight anymore. Being here fuels me, being here makes me feel like a different person, makes me feel like I can be the best version of me that I can be. If you guys are willing to have me, I’d love to come back to New Japan. Until next time, whenever that may be, I bid you all ado, muah, goodnight, bang.”

Orange Cassidy Comments on His Career Growth & Connection with Fans in AEW
iHeartRadio Philadelphia held a recent interview with Orange Cassidy. One of the topics discussed included Cassidy’s thoughts about the growth of his wrestling career and connection with fans in AEW.
“I like to look at professional wrestling sometimes through the lens of somebody who’s not a professional wrestler. I feel that usually, hardcore wrestling fans don’t really like what I’m doing, but it’s all the people that don’t really know what professional wrestling is, and they look at me, they’re like, ‘Oh, I get that, yeah.’ Because that’s always like, if you’re not a wrestling fan, you come to a show and you see two guys basically in underwear, slapping each other in the chest, right? Like, what do you do? From that context, that’s why I think a lot of kids will look at me, ‘Okay, I get this.’
AEW allowed me to get to this evolution, right? I was able to grow. iI you were a wrestling fan, if you were an AEW fan, from the very beginning, you literally saw me change and grow with you. I feel that the AEW fans, take a lot of pride and responsibility for me and my success, and I think they deserve to be brought on a ride that is satisfying and also maybe heartbreaking. They deserve it because they’re basically with me.”

Ricochet Comments on His Decision to Leave WWE & Join AEW
A recent episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast featured Ricochet as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Ricochet’s thoughts about him feeling like he was “starting over” for his wrestling career near the end of his time in WWE despite being in the company for years.
“I felt like I was able to be on the next level of performers there, I guess. But I still feel like I was starting over again. I felt like I was starting over with the Bron Breakkers and the Iljas and the Carmelos and the new guys just coming in. I feel like Ricochet was with those guys coming back in, it’s like, man I’ve already been here for five or six years, I want to be doing something else.”
Ricochet also gave his thoughts about his decision to leave WWE and join AEW.
“I wasn’t going to go to the highest bidder, I was just going to go to whoever was going to make me feel good and ignite that spark again, because I felt like that fire that was burning inside of me was still there, but it was just like little embers that needed that gasoline on it to really make it ignite. At the time, I felt like AEW could be the gasoline for my fire. Since being there, I feel like I made the right choice. Just even getting to be in there with the guys that I’ve been in there with Lio and AR Fox and even Nick Wayne, someone I’ve never been in there with, Sammy Guevara, Mortos, people I’ve never worked with that I’ve been excited with, but also people like AR Fox and Lio, who I’ve worked with before years ago, now we’re both different performers. So I really think that had a lot to do with it. But there was no specific moment where something happened and I just flipped the switch and that’s where I’m going. I just think it’s what felt right.”
