Mercedes Mone Comments on AEW Being “Best I Ever Felt in My Career”
A recent episode of the Battleground Podcast featured Mercedes Mone as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Mone’s thoughts about her current time in AEW being the best she has ever felt in her wrestling career.
“My first, what, seven months — it’s been amazing. It’s been the best — so far the best I’ve ever felt in my career. Having these matches and opportunity, and just the chance to keep on growing and going. And having these new dreams and living old dreams. My biggest dream was to be in Japan, and now I am a New Japan Strong Women’s Champion. It’s been the best so far in AEW because this is where the best wrestle. And AEW makes sure that I still have this really competitive fire in me and, like, I still want to be the absolute best. And I feel like I’m just getting started, really.”
Mone also gave her thoughts about the differences between WWE and AEW’s creative process during her times in both companies.
“It’s been awesome. It’s been so awesome. There’s still some times I sometimes still don’t know what I’m doing week-to-week because Tony’s so busy. But once I get here, he’s so easy to talk to. And if I don’t like a certain thing, we can make something work. And he’s just very open to creating, and he loves creating for AEW. It’s been amazing so far.”

Awesome Kong Comments on Her Departure from AEW in 2021 Being “Amicable”
Victoire held a recent interview with former AEW and TNA/Impact wrestler Awesome Kong, real name Kia Stevens. One of the topics discussed included Kong’s thoughts about her departure from AEW in 2021 being amicable and being surprised over AEW paying her for a way longer time afterwards than she had expected or felt they should have done.
“I had just started out with AEW almost like a year before the pandemic, at the beginning of 2019. Whenever AEW started, I was there, and then in the middle…I had to leave for a little bit to go shoot GLOW, and then while we were shooting GLOW, the pandemic happened, and because of certain ailments that I have, I could not travel, and god bless them, AEW paid me way longer than I thought they would or should, and we just parted ways because I couldn’t come back, and why keep paying someone? We parted amicably, seriously. They paid me way longer than I would’ve paid somebody who’s not coming in for a job. I’m just saying, so yeah.”
