Backstage Update on AEW’s Debut Plans for Bobby Lashley

As noted before, The Hurt Syndicate, former Hurt Business in WWE, had been in talks with AEW for potential deals which led to MVP and Benjamin recently making their official debuts in the company. Bobby Lashley is currently believed to have also recently signed an official contract with AEW around the same time as Benjamin.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that AEW officials originally had planed for Lashley to make his official debut for the company at this past Saturday’s WrestleDream 2024 event. AEW officials reportedly had planned for Lashley to attack Swerve Strickland during Strickland’s promo segment with Prince Nana, MVP, and Benjamin but decided against it in the end. The reason for the dropped plan reportedly was due to AEW officials had already booked for Bryan Danielson to be attacked on the show and did not want to have two beatdown segments on the same show and involve Washington hometown talents be on the receiving ends.

In regards to AEW’s current plans for Lashley’s debut, it was reported that those spoken to reportedly stated that Lashley is currently expected to make his official debut appearance within the next few weeks and be alinged with MVP and Benjamin.

It was reported that Lashley has not been seen backstage at recent AEW shows nor was he in attendance backstage at this past Saturday’s WrestleDream 2024 event.
