Jon Moxley Wins AEW World Title & Ends Bryan Danielson Full-time Wrestling Career, Wheeler Yuta Turns Heel on Danielson

Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream 2024 event at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington featured Jon Moxley defeating Bryan Danielson to become the new AEW World Champion for the fourth time in his AEW career.

As per stipulation of Danielson’s reign as AEW World Champion, Danielson’s loss meant the end of his full-time wrestling career.

Following the match, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir came out to the ring to celebrate with Moxley. Shafir then handed a plastic bag for Moxley to use on Danielson but before he was able to do so, Darby Allin and Wheeler Yuta ran out to save Danielson. This led to Moxley and his group bailing from the ring and Allin arguing with Moxley as Yuta checked on Danielson. This turned out to just be a ruse by Yuta who hit a Busaiku Knee to Allin laying him out.

Moxley’s group then got back into the ring and proceeded to tape Allin’s arm to the ropes. Moxley then handed the plastic bag to Yuta who placed it over Danielson’s head and started to suffocate him and pleaded for him to stop fighting. This led to security, Private Party, and Jeff Jarrett all rushing out trying to try to put a stop to the attack to no avail.

Castagnoli then placed a chair around Daneilson’s neck as Moxley gave the last rights sign to Danielson. This led to Castagnoli stomping on the chair leading to more of the locker room running out to save Danielson and put an end to the attack as Moxley’s group bailed away. Medics tended to Danielson and loaded him on as stretcher as the ropes were being loosened to allow Danielson to be removed from the ring as the show came to a close.
