WWE SmackDown Notes: Kevin Owens Claims Rhodes Turned on Him & Gets in Altercation with Randy Orton, Trick Williams, Judgement Day, & Rhea Ripley Surprise Appearances, MCMG WWE Debut Set for 10/18 Show

Kevin Owens Claims Cody Rhodes Turned On Him Over Reason for Parking Lot Brawl on Friday’s WWE SmackDown Show

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Greenville, South Carolina featured Kevin Owens making a surprise appearance and responding to the parking lot brawl he had with Cody Rhodes following this past Saturday’s Bad Blood 2024 event.

During Meta-Four’s entrance for their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill, Owens came out from the crowd and made his way to the ring with a microphone. Owens apologized for the interruption and stated that he was told to not be here tonight. Owens then stated that he was asked why he turned on Rhodes but before he could continue, production turned off his microphone. Owens then left the ring and grabbed Corey Graves’ headset and stated that it wasn’t him that turned on Cody but Cody turned on him.

This led to Rhodes coming out as WWE security and SmackDown General Manger rushed out to stop Rhodes and prevent Owens from doing the same. This led to Randy Orton coming out and tried to pull Owens away to calm him down only for Owens to strike him with an elbow shot. Orton responded hitting an RKO to Owens out of frustration. Orton looked upset over what he had just done while Owens responded the same in return.

In a follow-up segment, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis was seen backstage dealing with a bickering Street Profits and DIY over their issues caused by last week’s Ladder match for the WWE Tag Team titles. Aldis became distracted over some commotion happening in the parking lot, which was revealed to be Owens attacking Orton. Aldis and security rushed to Owens to put an end to it as Owens yelled at Orton saying that is what he gets for picking sides.

Trick Williams Makes Surprise Appearance on Friday’s WWE SmackDown Show

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show also featured current NXT Champion Trick Williams making a surprise appearance.

During the show, Williams was seen in the front row of the crowd during the entrances for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match between Meta-Four and Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill.

Judgement Day & Rhea Ripley Makes Surprise Appearance on Friday’s WWE SmackDown Show

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show also featured Judgement Day and Rhea Ripley making surprise appearances.

During the show, Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton came out to the ring and Jax grabbed a microphone. Jax talked about her victory over Bayley at Bad Blood 2024 and after a bit of bullying, told Stratton that after she beats Liv Morgan at Crown Jewel 2024, she wants her to cash in on Morgan. This led to Naomi coming out and after some back-and-forth banter between the two over Naomi wanting a shot at her title, Judgement Day’s Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, and Dominik Mysterio came out. Morgan stated that they came all the way to make an example out of Nia but it turns out she has her hands full. Morgan stated that what they will do instead is they will go to ringside and watch with everyone else as Nia loses her match tonight. Morgan then mocked Jax stating that the same will happen to her at Crown Jewel.

Following Naomi’s victory over Jax, Judgement Day proceeded to leave to the back only to be interrupted by Ripley’s music. Ripley ran out and attacked Rodriguez laying her out leading to Morgan and Mysterio running away to the ring. This led to Ripley running after them and Morgan getting grabbed by Jax who got hit with a big boot in return by Ripley laying her out. Ripley then grabbed Morgan but before she could do anything, Mysterio got on the apron to distract her. This led to both Mysterio and Morgan running away to safety as Ripley angrily looked on.

During the show, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis revealed that a new tag team would be making their debut next week and their first match will be against Los Garzas (Angel & Berto) following a backstage segment with Legado Del Fantasma.

In a follow-up segment, a video aired featuring the same footage from last week’s teaser video with cars and police sirens but included drums being played and something being briefly sprayed on a wall. This led to a text being briefly flashed that read “MCMG.”

This video also featured the announcement of this new mystery team making their official debut for WWE’s SmackDown brand at next week’s show on October 18th in Columbia, South Carolina.
