Backstage Reaction Over Drew McIntyre’s Head Wound During Hell In A Cell Match at WWE Bad Blood 2024

As noted before, Drew McIntyre suffered a head wound injury during his Hell in a Cell match against CM Punk at this past Saturday’s WWE Bad Blood 2024 event in Atlanta, Georgia. McIntyre required 16 staples to close his wound after the match.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that CM Punk busting open McIntyre with a toolbox shot to the head was something that WWE officials had not planned in regards to blood for the spot.

Meltzer reported that the backstage and ringside reaction following the spot was one of panic due to how bad McIntyre’s head wound was and the bleeding not stopping. WWE officials reportedly had talked about having the doctor get in the cage and try to stop the bleeding but decided against it due to it being a Hell in a Cell match. WWE officials reportedly still wanted the blood wiped off from McIntyre’s head which is why a towel was given for the referee to use.

McIntyre reportedly took control of the situation and stated that if he felt woozy, he would give them the word and they would got right to the finish. McIntyre reportedly also showed no signs of a concussion injury allowing the match to go on as planned and he was very aware of what was going on and in control at all times during the remainder of it.
