Jerry “The King” Lawler’s Wrongful Death Claims Against Hardeman County Jail Officially Dismissed

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler filed a wrongful death lawsuit in July of 2019 against Hardeman County, Tennessee and its sheriff over the death of his son Brian Christopher in July of 2018. Lawler’s lawsuit was dismissed this past September by the U.S. District Court, Western District of Tennessee (Jackson).

WREG Memphis reported that the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday that all claims made by Lawler against their office over the death of his son was officially dismissed by a judge.

In September 2022, the district court denied claims against county Sheriff Doolen and Leonard Brown but claims against Judy Wiggins, Ellen Futrell, and William Gonzalez were not denied.

The original court’s ruling was reversed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. They claimed that Wiggins, Futrell, and Gonzalez had qualified immunity that protected them from being sued.

All of Jerry Lawler’s claims regarding his son’s death in the county jail have been dismissed by the court as a result.
