Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada for AEW World & AEW Continental Titles Match Set for 10/2 Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show

AEW announced one new match for the card of their Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show, which takes place on October 2nd at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This new match announced was an AEW World Championship and AEW Continental Championship match of Bryan Danielson (World) vs. Kazuchika Okada (Continental). It was also announced that only the first twenty minutes of this upcoming match will have Okada’s Continental title on the line as per rules for Continental title matches.

Adam Cole Ankle Injury Status & AEW Return Plans Update

As noted before, Adam Cole has been out of action for AEW since September of 2023 due to an ankle injury.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that AEW officials currently are “hopeful and even expecting” that Cole will be back “sooner than later” from his injury.

It was reported that AEW officials are currently working on plans for Cole’s eventual on-screen return to AEW programming.

Update on AEW & Warner Bros Discovery Finalizing New Media Rights Deal

As noted before, AEW and Warner Bros Discovery are currently believed to be close to finalizing a new media rights deal that would be 3-4 years in length and worth in the ballpark of around $170 million per year.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that an announcement regarding AEW’s new media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery is “just about ready” to be made. Meltzer speculated that this upcoming announcement likely will only mention that a deal has been finalized and the stations that will be airing AEW programming and not everything that this deal entails. Meltzer also speculated that this announcement could be made this Wednesday in conjunction with AEW’s fifth year anniversary celebrations and Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources also stated that an announcement is expected to be made fairly soon.
