Netflix released their Mr. McMahon docuseries based on former WWE and TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon earlier today on their streaming service.
Post Wrestling’s Brandon Thurston reported that prior to the release of Netflix’s docuseries, McMahon had dropped his working relationship with public relations firm Sitrick And Company. Thurston reported that the PR firm had worked with McMahon since this past April.
Thurston reported that Post Wrestling had learned of the split this past Monday after they had contacted the firm’s founder and CEO Michael Sitrick.
Thurston reported that they had contacted Sitrick again on Tuesday for an official statement regarding the details for the end of his firm’s working relationship with McMahon. In an official statement, Sitrick responded stating “With respect to clients, we don’t comment beyond we are no longer working together.”
Thurston also reported that McMahon is still being represented by attorney Jessica Taub Rosenberg in the civil lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against McMahon, WWE, and former WWE executive John Laurinaitis.
Dave Meltzer reported in a special preview edition of this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that McMahon recently hired PR and media strategies firm Edendale Strategies to be his new representation.
Meltzer reported that those close to the situation reported that Edendale Strategies President and founder Tony Freinberg was recently hired by McMahon to represent him going forward.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that McMahon made the decision to switch firms due to he had believed that the new company was more up-to-date with the modern media landscape and having a better understanding of the digital and online modern reporting landscape.
In regards to Freinberg’s ties with McMahon, Meltzer reported that Freinberg is a former NBC Associate Producer and had spent time as an agent working for the William Morris Agency, who later morphed into Endeavor and is the current owner of UFC and WWE.
In regards to Edendale Strategies, the company is a consulting firm that focuses on communications counsel and crisis management. The company also claims to help their clients “hone and convey their message effectively, especially in high-stakes situations where there is little to no margin for error.”
