Will Ospreay Comments on His Match Against Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty

Inside The Ropes Magazine held a recent interview with Will Ospreay. One of the topics discussed included Ospreay’s thoughts about his match against Bryan Danielson at this past April’s AEW Dynasty event living up to his expectations and being an incredible moment in his wrestling career.

“Yeah, 100% met my expectations. The moment we were in the ring they started saying ‘Holy s—t.’ I know what’s a good match and what’s not. All I gotta do is close my eyes and just listen to the audience, and they were enjoying every single minute of it. Getting to come backstage was just one of those incredible moments. You ever see Avengers: Endgame where Iron Man sits down and he’s dying, and she goes, “you can rest now.” It was an incredible moment and then here comes another Iron Man film.”

Big Bill Comments on His Main Goal for His Wrestling Career & Being Almost Five Years Sober

A recent episode of Barstool’s Rasslin podcast featured Big Bill as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Big Bill’s thoughts about his current interest in competing for singles gold in AEW.

“Yeah, I’m open to it. We’ll see what happens. Right now, I love what I’m doing. It’s fun. Going to work is fun, I love what I’m doing. We did a backstage a few weeks ago where he was 102 days as the FTW Champion. I haven’t laughed that hard at work maybe ever. What you saw on-camera was one thing. What was happening off-camera in the ring…it’s just fun. So I’m having a lot of fun, I love what I’m doing. But yeah, everybody wants to be the guy. So eventually, you want to take that leap. So I just have to make sure I’m prepared. Whenever that opportunity’s presented, I’m ready.”

Big Bill also gave his thoughts about the main goal for his wrestling career is to be someone who will be memorable to fans.

“I guess a lot of people would say I want to win world titles, I want to be top, yeah, of course. Everybody wants to be the guy. That’s my goal, to be the guy, to be the face. Looking at the roster we have, it’s gonna be a very fucking hard hill to climb to overtake some of those spots, but that’s still the goal, to be the top guy. But I guess my main goal in wrestling has always been to be memorable, and I think in my career so far, in WWE, I think that I was able to do that with Enzo, I just want to be memorable. When me and Ricky won the tag team titles, I told people that was my first title I’ve ever won, they said, ‘No, come on, you and Enzo won them.’ I said no we didn’t, and they were like…no one remembers this shit. So ten years from now, people are gonna be like, ‘Did he win titles? Did he main event?’ Who knows? But is he memorable? I just want to be memorable. Memorable is the way to go. There’s been plenty of tag team champions in the past in wrestling and when I was in NXT and WWE, that people don’t really remember them anymore. But to be memorable I think is the goal. So for me, it’s always to be memorable in what I’m doing. I think I did that with Enzo, and I think with the Learning Tree now, yeah, ten years from now, people are gonna remember this. They’re gonna be like, ‘Oh yeah, the Learning Tree, that shit was funny as fuck.’”

Big Bill also gave his thoughts about being almost five years sober in his battle with alcoholism.

“I’ve been pretty open about my problems. My alcoholism was horrendous, and now four years sober, going to be coming up on five years sober around the Super Bowl upcoming year. It’s been quite a journey, man. I mean, my career, you know, ups and then downs, ups, downs, and now I’m definitely on an upswing. I feel like now I have a second chance. A second chance, not just at wrestling, but a second chance at life. I have a very good life. I have my fiance who I’m getting married to in December. I love her family. I have our dogs. I have a second chance at life because for a while there, that didn’t seem like it was going to continue. It got really bad. I have a second chance at life. So it’s like, I gotta put 100% into everything I’m doing. At work, it’s like, don’t complain, put your head down, work hard, do what you’re told, and eventually it’s gonna pay off.”
