As noted before, AEW filed a new trademark for “AEW: Shockwave” this past Friday for a new potential wrestling-related show. During this past Satuday’s AEW All Out 2024 post-show media scrum, AEW CEO Tony Khan responded to a question about AEW’s recent trademark filing stating “It would be safe to say that AEW is set to create a shockwave throughout all of professional wrestling.”
Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that AEW’s talks with Warner Bros Discovery for a new media rights deal is believed to all but be finalized at the moment.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to also stated that AEW’s new deal with WBD might not be an exclusive one and Khan currently is in talks with an outside company for other AEW-related television projects.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources also stated that AEW has been in talks with another company for a potential new media rights deal outside of WBD.
Following AEW’s trademark for “AEW: Shockwave,” Sapp reported that there was discussions within AEW and the television industry that select AEW content could be headed to the Fox family of networks. Sapp reported that this could be for FOX itself, FS1 network, Tubi streaming service, or another FOX-related platform.
Sapp reported that one source close to FOX stated that FOX would be interested in keeping wrestling as part of their programming with the right deal. Another source spoken to also close to FOX claimed that the two sides have had contact.
