Kevin Owens vs. Cody Rhodes for Undisputed WWE Title Set for WWE Bash In Berlin

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show featured one new match announced for the card of WWE Bash In Berlin, which takes place on August 31st at the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany.

This new match is an Undisputed WWE Championship match of Kevin Owens vs. Cody Rhodes (c).

This new match was setup following a promo segment involving Rhodes, Owens, & Solo Sikoa. At the start of the show, Rhodes came out to the ring and grabbed a microphone. After greeting the crowd, Rhodes talked about who he wants to defend his Undisputed WWE title against at Bash In Berlin. Rhodes stated that this person …

Before Rhodes could continue, Sikoa’s music played and came out with the rest of The Bloodline except for Jacob Fatu who was absent. Sikoa responded stating that he does not care what Rhodes wants to talk about or what the fans wants to hear. Sikoa stated that he wants to talk about SummerSlam and had it not been for Roman Reigns, he would have been champion. Sikoa then demanded to be given a rematch, which Rhodes responded back talking about Fatu and claiming his injury was due to Sikoa not being able to win on his own and insulted him for cosplaying as the Tribal Chief. Rhodes then called Sikoa delusional leading to The Bloodline getting on the ring apron. Before anything else could happen, Owens ran out from the crowd carrying two chairs with him. This led to The Bloodline backing away and leaving but not before Sikoa told Rhodes that he will deal with him later after he finds Reigns. Rhodes responded stating that he will be waiting for him.

Following The Bloodline leaving, Owens attempted to do the same only to be stopped by Rhodes who asked him back and stating that this will be uncomfortable and Owens will likely say no. After Owens got back into the ring, Rhodes stated that he would like to face him at Bash In Berlin. Owens responded back stating that he appreciates it but he does not deserve a title match and has done nothing to earn it. Rhodes responded back stating that he had a feeling that Owens would say no but he did not forget what he did for him. Rhodes stated that Owens can say no all he wants but he is going to talk to Nick Aldis and he will give him all the reasons why Owens should face him at Bash In Berlin. Rhodes then talked about being hopeful Aldis will accept his offer for the match.

In a follow-up segment, Rhodes and Owens were seen backstage with Aldis. Owens stated that he does not deserve a title opportunity which led to Aldis responding back stating that he has been considering Reigns for the title match and brought up how long he was a champion. This led to an angry Owens responding back stating that he does not care how long Reigns was champion and he always had helped. After some more angry insults, Owens told Aldis to go to the locker room and he will find someone more deserving than Reigns. Aldis responded stating that he does not need to go to the locker room. Aldis stated that Rhodes sees it, the crowd sees it, and he sees it. Aldis then made the match between Owens and Rhodes for the title official for Bash In Berlin. This led to Owens realizing what just happened and told Rhodes that he guesses he will see him at Bash In Berlin.
