Lucha Bros AEW Contracts Update – Lucha Bros in Talks with WWE for Deal
As noted before, The Lucha Brothers’ Penta El Zero Miedo’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire between this August and September while Rey Fenix’s contract is currently set to expire by the end of this year. The Lucha Bros are currently expected to be joining WWE once their AEW contracts expire.
Fightful Select reported that their sources confirmed that the Lucha Bros have spoken with WWE and are trying to get signed as a package deal. It was reported that the Lucha Bros are currently not interested in going to WWE’s NXT brand meaning they would be going directly to WWE’s main roster if signed.
In regards to Fenix’s expiring AEW contract, it was reported that Fenix’s contract is currently set to expire this September. AEW officials reportedly have made efforts in trying to re-sign the Lucha Bros to new deals but talks were delayed by the Lucha Bros themselves.
One source spoken to reportedly stated that they would not be surprised to see the Lucha Bros in Orlando to prepare for their WWE run. Those spoken to within WWE reportedly have not directly confirmed that the company has been in talks with the Lucha Bros for a potential deal.
Tony Khan Comments on Paris Talks with Warner Bros Discovery & Being Most Important Time for AEW
As noted before, AEW CEO Tony Khan traveled to France this past Friday for scheduled talks with Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav in Paris during the 2024 Summer Olympics Games.
Khan provided an update on Tuesday on Twitter stating that the future is bright for AEW after his talks with Zaslav.
Thank you Mr. David Zaslav + @WBD for having me in Paris for the trip of a lifetime!

It’s an exciting time, the future’s very bright for @AEW!
TOMORROW on TBS
Don’t miss Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite, we had an epic run of Wednesdays in July, and we’ll start August hot TOMORROW!
In a recent interview with Q101’s Brian & Kenzie Morning Show, Khan gave his thoughts about his recent media rights talks with WBD and this currently being the most important time ever for AEW.
“Right now is the most important time ever in AEW. We’re on the verge of the most important deal we’ll ever make, this upcoming media rights, and it’s been great working with Warner Brothers Discovery on the future. For all these years, we’ve had so much great experience with Warner Brothers Discovery, and now, under the leadership of David Zaslav, the company, for us, the connection, the things we’ve been able to do, I think it’s getting stronger and stronger.
I think now, over five years, it’s really been building to this point where AEW’s going to jump into the media rights and be a very profitable, successful company that has lived up to every expectation we ever could have had because we’ve done so many amazing things in this years. We’ve had all these amazing pay-per-view records. We’ve really come in and we’ve done pay-per-view numbers, whether adjusted or straight-up, head-to-head, very strong compared to the last few years of WCW, and I think that’s really a success story. I think pay-per-views are really fun, but it’s a really interesting business point that our business on pay-per-view has continued to get stronger. This year’s been great for us, we’ve had some huge events, including Revolution, which was one of our biggest pay-per-views ever.”
