MJF Retains AEW American Title at Friday’s CMLL Event

Friday’s Super Viernes event for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico featured MJF defeating Templario to retain his AEW American Championship.

MJF was accompanied to the ring by Rocky Romero while Templario was accompanied to the ring by KeMalito.

MJF retained his title after hitting a Sheer Drop Brainbuster and after the match, attacked both Templario and KeMalito with his belt.

Following the show, MJF reflected on Twitter about his successful title defense and his upcoming match against Kyle Fletcher at next week’s AEW Dynamite show.

This was MJF’s first defense of his newly renamed AEW International title and also his official debut match in CMLL.

Gail Kim Comments on WWE & TNA’s Talent Crossover Partnership

A recent episode of the Battleground Podcast featured Gail Kim as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Kim’s thoughts about TNA Wrestling’s current talent crossover partnership being good for wrestling.

“I honestly feel like it’s great for wrestling in general, not just WWE and TNA. I just think because it’s such a polarizing time right now, social media, a lot of people have their opinions and wrestling is a little bit exposed more so people feel like they know it or they know how wrestling works so they’re trying to predict it. I love how you never know what’s gonna happen, you never know who we’re gonna work with, never know what kind of dream matches you’re going to get out of it. Ever since the collaboration, all I see from fans is, ‘I wanna see this person wrestle this person.’ They’re just excited for wrestling in general, it’s not this tribalism, it’s, ‘I’m a wrestling fan’, and I love to see that.”
