WWE: Big E Neck Injury Update, Vince McMahon Spokesperson Responds to Janel Grant Petition, Ric Flair on Potential of John Cena Breaking His World Title Record

Big E Neck Injury Update – Big E Still Not in Position to be Potentially Medically Cleared for In-Ring Return

As noted before, Big E has been out of action for WWE since March of 2022 due to a broken neck injury.

A recent episode of the Getting Over Wrestling podcast featured Big E as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Big E’s thoughts about how he has managed to keep a positive attitude over his neck injury situation and inability to continue his in-ring wrestling career.

“Originally, the diagnosis was three months. It was, ‘Hey, we’ll have you in a hard collar for, I think, six weeks, you’ll do some rehab and you should be good to go.’ But the bone didn’t end up healing the way they thought it could. So, it’s really just been a bit of an adjustment. More than anything, I owe a lot of this to mindfulness [and] to meditation which I really got into once the pandemic started. It really just helped my state of mind. Instead of thinking about the things I didn’t have anymore, all the things that I lost, I thought about all of the things I still was blessed to have in my life. I could still walk, I could still work, I could do so many incredible things. So the focus isn’t ‘woe is me,’ it wasn’t about all the opportunities lost, it was just about gratitude. And that’s just my perspective now.”

Big E also gave his thoughts about his current work for WWE for their “Campus Rush” college seminar events.

“We’re going to these campuses and these universities and we’re talking to athletes who are in a very similar position as me, who are looking at their athletic careers being over, their collegiate careers coming to an end soon. And now what? You spend so much time and effort involved in this pursuit, and then one day it just stops. For me, I was so grateful that WWE came along because I felt there was this big void when I was done with all my injuries at [University of] Iowa and I wanted to do more athletically. I’m so glad that I had WWE to then pour myself into. I love being around college football, and to be able to do that with WWE, a company that has really changed my life for the better, and to be able to go out and do things in college football has been kind of a dream.”

Vince McMahon Sex Trafficking Lawsuit Update – McMahon Spokesperson Issues Statement Over Grant’s Petition Against WWE Wellness Doctor

As noted before, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit this past January against former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon accusing McMahon of committing sex trafficking and sexual abuse towards her during her time in the company. Grant’s lawsuit was put on hold this past April over a request from the U.S. Department of Justice, who officially launched their own criminal investigation into McMahon and joined the lawsuit as an “interested party.” Grant’s lawyers recently filed a petition against a WWE Wellness doctor and his clinic for medical records related to her lawsuit.

In a recent official statement to Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, a spokesperson for McMahon responded to Grant’s petition against Dr. Carlon Colker and his clinic Peak Wellness, Inc. for all medical records related to her lawsuit.

“Ms. Grant’s petition for pre-action discovery against Dr. Colker is a direct violation of the court-ordered stay, and nothing more than an attempt to generate publicity on her false allegations and to harass people connected to Mr. McMahon, who is being sued by Ms. Grant in a separate matter.

The facts are that Ms. Grant told Mr. McMahon she was fatigued and asked him to recommend a doctor. Ms. Grant called Dr. Colker and became a patient of his. Her statement in the filing is inconsistent with her prior remarks. Ms. Grant never had anything but good things to say about the doctor when speaking to Mr. McMahon and others about him.”

Ric Flair Comments on Having No Problem with John Cena Breaking His World Title Reigns Record

As noted before, John Cena made a surprise appearance at WWE’s Money in the Bank 2024 event earlier this month in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and announced that he will be holding a retirement tour for his WWE wrestling career in 2025.

A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Flair’s thoughts about having no problem if Cena were to break his World title reigns record. Flair also stated that ideally he would like if him and Cena were tied for the record and his daughter Charlotte Flair was the one to break the record.

“You want the honest to God truth? I think so much personally of John Cena. He’s just one of those really great guys, in my opinion. And I’ve known a few. In a perfect world, it would be my daughter, which I think would be the biggest thing that could ever happen. I told her one time, and she got upset — not upset but she didn’t like the comparison, I said, ‘You’d be as famous as Serena Williams if you broke that record that’s been there for so long.’ She didn’t like the comparison, but she’s as good an athlete as there is alive today. But if they do it with John, I have no problem. I’d be the first one to hit the ring and shake his hand.”

Flair also gave his thoughts about if WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque would be hesitant to book Cena to break his World title reigns record.

“I personally kind of agree with you, I don’t think he wants to pull the trigger on it.”
