John Cena Makes Surprise Appearance & Announces Retirement Tour at WWE Money in the Bank 2024

Saturday’s WWE Money in the Bank 2024 event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada featured John Cena making a surprise appearance and announcing his official retirement from WWE after next year’s WrestleMania 41 event.

During the show, special guest host Trish Stratus came out and greeted the Canadian crowd. Stratus talked about having her first retirement match in this arena and also being the mystery partner for someone tonight, who she revealed to be Cena making his surprise return.

Cena came out to the ring and stated that he is going to address why he is here. Cena stated that “tonight, I officially announce my retirement from the WWE.” This led to the crowd booing and chanting “No” loudly in return. After some more words reflecting about his over two decade career in WWE, Cena praised WWE’s Canadian fans for always showing up to WWE shows regardless if WWE is hot or cold. Cena stated that this is why this is the perfect place for him to say what he has to say and as for why now, Money in the Bank is the ultimate symbol of opportunity. After some more words, Cena stated that he will be holding a retirement tour with his last three matches taking place at next year’s Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41 events.

Cena also stated that he will be kicking off tonight’s post-show press conference and will field all questions about his retirement. Cena stated that in vein of the ultimate opportunity, he wants to take advantage of one and stated he wants to thank WWE fans. The crowd responded back with a loud “Thank You, Cena” chant and Cena being moved over the reaction.
