TNT Title Vacated & New Champion to be Crowned in Ladder Match at AEW Forbidden Door 2024

As noted before, Adam Copeland suffered a broken tibia injury at this past Sunday’s AEW Double or Nothing 2024 event in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite his injury, Copeland managed to finish his Steel Cage match against Malakai Black to retain the TNT Championship at the event.

Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Inglewood, California featured the official announcement of the TNT Championship being vacated and qualifiers to be held to determine the competitors for a ladder match at next month’s Forbidden Door 2024 event to crown a new champion.

During the show, The Elite came out to the ring and before they could speak, Kazhcuika Okada grabbed the microphone and told the CM Punk fans in the crowd that were chanting “CM Punk” to “shut up bitches” as the rest of the crowd laughed in response. The Elite then talked about their victory at Double or Nothing and Jack Perry responded stating that he got a piece of the Dragon when he pinned Bryan Danielson. The Young Bucks then presented a gift to Okada, which was revealed to be a brand new Lamborghini that was shown off on the big video screen and Okada responded in happiness as the crowd chanted “you deserve it.”

Matthew Jackson then stated it was time to talk business and took blame for Adam Copeland’s leg injury saying that he had told Copeland “good luck and break your leg” before his match at Double or Nothing. After some more words, Matthew stated that they must strip Copeland of his TNT Championship and announced that Jack Perry is the new TNT Champion.

The Elite’s celebration for Perry was interrupted by Christopher Daniels who came out and made his way towards the ring. Daniels stated that while the Young Bucks might have fired him and gave him a severance package, he got a better package from Tony Khan. Daniels stated that Khan has named him the new Interim Executive Vice President meaning that whenever he makes an announcement, it is coming straight from Khan himself. Daniels then stated that if Perry wants to be the champion, then he has to earn it. Daniels announced that over the course of the next couple of weeks, there will be qualifying matches for a shot at the vacant title at Forbidden Door. Daniels stated that the winners of these qualifying matches will advance to a Ladder match for the title at the event.

Just before The Elite could award Jack Perry the #TNT Championship, "The Fallen Angel" returned to make a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!

The Young Bucks responded stating that they wanted to give a gift to Daniels implying a beatdown but before they could do anything, The Acclaimed came out and stood by Daniels as his protection and to even up the odds as The Elite backed down from their threat.
