— In addition to his world famous exploits inside the squared circle, “Macho Man” Randy Savage was also well known as a celebrity spokesman for the beef jerky line Slim Jim throughout the 1990s. Through his promotional efforts, he helped make Slim Jim one of the most popular snack foods in the world. “Snap into a Slim Jim, oooooh yeah!” became a popular catchphrase from his commercials. Following the tragic passing of Savage Friday morning due to an automobile accident in Seminole, Florida, ConAgra Foods, Inc., parent company of Slim Jim, issued the following statement to TMZ.com: “We’re saddened by the loss. Randy was a beloved ambassador for the Slim Jim brand for many years and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.” In a coincidence, ConAgra Foods, Inc. shut down production of Slim Jim at its Garner, North Carolina facility Friday, concluding a 40+ year run. Slim Jim production is being shifted to a plant in Troy, Ohio.

The show, which was originally billed as WWE Bragging Rights, was announced as WWE Uprising at last Tuesday’s SmackDown taping at the AT&T Center. No word on if this is a mistake or not. More soon.
