Ronda Rousey Biopic Reportedly in Production for Netflix

Deadline reported that their sources stated that former WWE wrestler and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey recently agreed to a deal with Netflix for a film to be produced based on her life.

It was reported that the script for this upcoming film will be based on her recently release memoirs and would air exclusively on Netflix.

It was also reported that Chernin Entertainment studio is currently expected to produce this film but a deal has yet to be finalized.

This project reportedly had been in the works since 2015, first with Paramount and later with Netflix after Paramount’s rights for the film had lapsed. Netflix executive Michelle Evans reportedly had pushed for the company to secure the rights to the project due to her being a long time fan of Rousey.

It was also reported that while Rousey will be writing the script, she will not star in the film.

AJ Styles Comments on His Past Career in NJPW

Sports Illustrated held a recent interview with AJ Styles. One of the topics discussed included Styles’ thoughts about his match with Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in 2014 and the impact his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling had on his wrestling career.

“The creative changed everything for me. If I were bringing somebody over to be in my company, the last thing I would do is have them win the heavyweight championship as soon as they got there. But that’s what they did. And it worked. It put me on the map immediately. New Japan was getting hot, real hot, and that’s when I got there. I got to be in the ring with incredible talent like Shinsuke [Nakamura], Okada, and [Hiroshi] Tanahashi. Those guys, they’re big time. There were no handcuffs. Whatever I wanted to say or do, I could.”

Styles also gave his thoughts about the end of his time in NJPW and when he had made the decision to leave the company to go to WWE.

“When I heard Shinsuke was leaving, he didn’t even know I knew. Nobody knew, I’ll put it like that–and that’s when I spoke about it with Gallows and Anderson, and we all decided to leave.”
