AEW: Darby Allin Broken Foot Injury Update, Cash Wheeler Aggravated Assault Case Update, Matt Hardy on Decision to Let His AEW Contract Expire

Darby Allin Broken Foot Injury Update

As noted before, Darby Allin has been out of action for AEW since this past March due to a broken foot injury. Besides recovering from a broken foot, Allin is also currently recovery from a broken nose injury following a recent bus accident incident in New York City.

A recent episode of 99.9 KISW’s Daly Migs Show featured Allin as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Allin providing an update on his recovery from a broken foot injury and the potential of him making an appearance at the May 15th AEW Dynamite show in Everett, Washington.

“Unfortunately, my foot is not scheduled to heal until I’d say June. So if I did roll up, it would just be with a broken face and a broken foot waving to the crowd, which may not be the worst thing. I’ll see. I trained in Everett, Washington, so it would be like an ultimate homecoming of sorts. That’d be really cool. May 15, I gotta see….I think might be able to make it. As long as there’s no buses, I’m good.”

Cash Wheeler Aggravated Assault Case Update

As noted before, Cash Wheeler was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm this past August in Florida following an alleged road rage and firearm brandishing incident this past July in the state.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that Wheeler is currently scheduled to stand on trial on May 20th before the Orange County Court in Florida based on recent court records. Johnson reported that Wheeler will be on trial for one charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, which is a third degree felony under Florida state law.

Johnson reported that Wheeler is also currently scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on May 7th that is mandatory for his appearance.

Matt Hardy Comments on His Decision to Let His AEW Contract Expire & Still in Talks for Potential New Deal

As noted before, Matt Hardy’s contract with AEW expired at the end of this past March and made his official return to TNA Wrestling at their Rebellion 2024 event this past April. Despite his return to TNA, Hardy revealed that he is still a free agent.

A recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast featured co-host Hardy giving his thoughts about his decision to let his contract with AEW expire. Hardy also stated that he is still in talks with AEW for a potential new deal with the company.

“I think the reason that I did not re-sign with AEW initially was because I want to play a more substantial in what AEW is doing going forward, especially for me on TV. I want to be in something that is important, that is captivating, because that’s what I want, especially with only a few years left to do this. We talked about some stuff and there were some deals, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. We talked more and we’re still talking, talks haven’t ended or ceased. Never say never, but the reason I left is I’m looking for a little more than I think they were thinking to give me. If they were thinking that was going to make me happy, that’s not necessarily what I was looking for. I still want to be a contributing force on whatever program I am competing for.”
