NJPW Announced August Date for Capital Collision 2024 in Washington D.C.
During Friday’s Windy City Riot 2024 in Chicago, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that this year’s Capital Collision event will be taking place on August 30th at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, DC.

Rocky Romero Named New VP of Talent for New Japan of America
New Japan Pro Wrestling official and talent Rocky Romero recently announced on Twitter that he has been promoted as the new Vice President of Show and Talent Coordination for NJPW’s New Japan of America branch.

NJPW News & Notes
As noted before, Jon Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to become the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion at Friday’s Windy City Riot 2024 event for NJPW in Chicago, Illinois. Besides the IWGP World title, two other championships also changed hands at the event. The first title to change hands was TMDK defeating West Coast Wrestling Crew, Tom Lawlor & Fred Rosser, and Guerillas of Destiny in a Four-way match to become the new NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Champions. The other title to change hands was Zack Sabre Jr. defeating Matt Riddle to become the new NJPW World Television Champion.
Following Friday’s NJPW Windy City Riot 2024 event in Chicago, KENTA posted a photo on Twitter of himself with Jack Perry backstage with both of them giving the middle finger and the caption of “F*** Chicago.” KENTA has been known for his years long feud with CM Punk over his issues with Punk and Punk’s usage of the GTS move.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jack Perry’s “Cry Me A River” shirt is currently the best selling shirt for NJPW as of this past week.
NJPW announced two new matches for the card of their Resurgence 2024 event on May 11th at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California:
- NJPW Strong Women’s Championship – Alex Windsor vs. Stephanie Vaquer (c)
- NJPW Strong Openweight Championship No Ropes Last Man Standing match – Gabe Kidd vs. Eddie Kingston (c)
