CM Punk reportedly suffered a torn triceps injury at this past Saturday’s Royal Rumble 2024 event in St. Petersburg, Florida, according to the Wrestling Observer, PWInsider, and Fightful Select.
Dave Meltzer reported in a special preview edition of this upcoming Friday’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that CM Punk had suffered a “significant injury.”
Meltzer reported that WWE officials currently have planned for Punk to address his injury situation during tonight’s RAW show in Tampa.
Punk reportedly is currently believed to have suffered the injury following a spot involving Drew McIntyre giving him a Future Shock DDT. This reportedly led to a referee checking on Punk who responded back saying his triceps was hurt.
Prior to his injury, Meltzer reported that WWE officials had scheduled for Punk to face off against Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at this April’s WrestleMania 40 event.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed Punk had suffered a serious injury that was believed to be a torn triceps. Johnson reported that Punk is also currently believed to undergo surgery at some time following tonight’s RAW show.
Johnson reported that those spoken to stated that Punk could be out of action from anywhere between four to six months following surgery which would rule him out for WrestleMania 40. Johnson also reported that if Punk were to get surgery this week, that would put his in-ring return to this Summer as the best case scenario.
Fightful Select reported that their sources also stated that the current belief within WWE at the time was that Punk had suffered a torn triceps. Brennan reported that the referee who had checked on Punk asked him if he needed a doctor which Punk waived off since he wanted to finish the match.
It was also reported that they have not heard anything from their sources about if Cody Rhodes’ Men’s Royal Rumble victory was an audible called due to Punk’s injury.
