As noted before, WWE’s plans as of last week for the top matches at this April’s WrestleMania 40 event included Roman Reigns defending his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against either Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or Cody Rhodes with the potential of defending against both in a Triple Threat match.
Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso reported that his sources close to WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque stated that WWE currently is not planning for Rhodes to headline WrestleMania 40.
Those spoken to reportedly also stated that Rhodes’s “finish the story” storyline regarding him winning the Undisputed WWE Universal title in honor of his late father Dusty is also currently not planned to be taking place at the event as well.
