Bobby Lashley Comments on Some People Within WWE Were Very Against CM Punk’s Return
WrestlingNews.co held a recent interview with Bobby Lashley. One of the topics discussed included Lashley’s thoughts about some within WWE were very against CM Punk making his return to the company.
“I was actually leaving around the time when Punk was really starting to pick up a little steam. I mean, he was there but he really didn’t do anything at that time. I know he had a big impact in WWE in his time there.
I spoke with some of the guys that know him, (and I) got mixed feelings. Some people were very against it, some people were, ‘You know, whatever.’ But it’s the land of opportunity. So, if he comes back and he helps out the show, that’s the business side of it.”
Lashley also gave his thoughts about having a built-in storyline already in place based on a real-life past issue if he were to ever cross paths with Punk in WWE.
“I don’t really know Punk too personally and when I was fighting, he went to UFC, I put my money on him so he does owe me a little bit of money. Twice! I was like, ‘No, he can do it, come on!'”
Lashley also gave his thoughts about being hopeful that CM Punk will be allowed the opportunity to earn his spot back in WWE instead of just having it handed back to him.
“I understand he has a big name, he’s coming back and he’s going to do some big numbers, but I hope they make him kind of work for some of the stuff.
I hope they give him an opportunity to kind of prove his loyalty to the business and some of the people in there just to let everybody know, some of the naysayers, some of the people that aren’t too happy about him being there. I hope he has his opportunity to work his way back up to the top and not just given everything because he negotiated a good contract that allowed him to do that.”

Cora Jade NXT Absence & Return Plans Update
NXT talent Cora Jade has been absent from WWE’s NXT brand since this past August following Jade “leaving” NXT over her loss in a match to now former WWE talent Dana Brooke.
This past Tuesday’s NXT show featured a QR code visible on the announcer table in front of NXT commentators Booker T and Vic Joseph and on a podium during a Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match panel hosted by Byron Saxton. This code when scanned was revealed to lead to a website https://www.wwe.com/nxt-deadline-soon and features a video message of “See You at Deadline” in a woman’s voice that sounds similar to Jade.

Wes Lee Back Injury Status Update
As noted before, this past Tuesday’s WWE NXT show featured Wes Lee announcing that he had recently suffered a serious injury that will require surgery and he will no longer be able to compete at this Saturday’s NXT Deadline 2023 event. This was later revealed to be a back injury and WWE officials currently expecting Lee to be out of action for at least eight to twelve months.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Lee’s back injury is legitimate and not something done just for storyline purposes. Johnson reported that WWE officials no longer have Lee scheduled to travel to Bridgeport, Connecticut for this Saturday’s NXT event.
