WWE NXT Notes: NXT Women’s Title Match Added to NXT No Mercy, Global Heritage Invitational Finals Set for Next Week’s Show

NXT Women’s Title Match Added to Card of NXT No Mercy

Tuesday’s NXT show featured one new match officially added to the card of NXT No Mercy, which takes place on September 30th in Bakersfield, California.

This new match is a NXT Women’s Championship match of Tiffany Stratton vs. Becky Lynch (c).

This match was setup following an in-ring promo segment by Lynch and Stratton. Lynch opened the show with a promo that featured some corny one-liner rhymes name dropping a bunch of NXT women names and stating that she will be in NXT for a while. Lynch praised Stratton for being able to hang with her last week in the ring but finished by calling her an idiot and arsehole. This led to Stratton coming out to interrupt and stated that she was invoking her rematch that she deserves. Stratton then fooled the crowd into thinking that this match would be taking place tonight only to call them losers instead and stated that this match would be taking place at a bigger stage and at NXT No Mercy instead.

Later in the show, NXT commentator Vic Joseph announced that this match was made official for the show.

Following Lynch & Lyra Valkyria defeating Stratton & Kiana James in a tag team match for the show’s main event, Stratton launched a post-match attack with a chair to Valkyria and Lynch. As Stratton was walking away, Lynch grabbed a microphone and stated that if that is what Stratton wants to do, then their NXT Women’s title match at NXT No Mercy will now be an Extreme Rules match for the title.

Three More NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament Matches, Updated Standings

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show featured three group matches for NXT’s ongoing Global Heritage Invitational Tournament.

The first match involved Butch defeating Tyler Bate in a Group A match.

The finish to this match involved Bate attempting a Tyler Driver 97 only for Butch to counter it by escaping and hitting a Tyler Driver 97 instead for the nearfall. Butch then attempted a Bitter End only for Bate to counter it with a DDT and hit a Bitter End for a nearfall. Butch then threw a jab at Bate sending him into the ropes leading to Bate hitting Butch with a rebound clothesline. Bate then went to the top rope and attempted a Spinal Tap only for Butch to counter with his knees. Butch then hit a Bitter End for the nearfall and followed it with the Better End for the pinfall victory to be crowned the winner of Group A and advance to the Finals of the NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament.

The second match featured Duke Hudson defeating Joe Coffey in a Group B match.

The finish to this match involved Coffey attempting an All The Best for the Bells only for Hudson to counter it with a roll-up for the pinfall victory. As a result of Hudson’s win, a three way tie was created between Hudson, Coffey, and Nathan Frazer that was announced to require a three-way tie breaker that would take place later in the show to officially determine the winner of Group B.

The third match featured Joe Coffey defeating Duke Hudson and Nathan Frazer in a Group B tiebreaker match.

The finish to this match involved Hudson hitting Frazer with a spinning Black Hole Slam for a nearfall that was broken up by Coffey. Hudson then tossed Coffey out of the ring and after some hesitation, he got hit with a boot by Frazer who followed it up with a Poisonrana and a Phoenix Splash. Frazer then went to the ropes for another high flying move only to shoved off the apron by Coffey. This led to Coffey hitting Hudson with an All The Best for the Bells for the pinfall victory to be crowned the winner of Group B and advance to the Finals of the NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament.

Coffey will being facing off against Butch in the Finals of the NXT Global Invitational Heritage Tournament at next week’s NXT show with the winner to face off against Noam Dar for the NXT Heritage Cup Championship at NXT No Mercy.
