More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for September 6th
The September 6th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership and a slight increase in key demographic ratings but also suffered a slight decline in key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 887,000 viewers and a 0.31 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 2nd place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases this week was due to a stronger than usual lead-in programming ratings from The Big Bang Theory, which drew 942,000 viewers and a 0.14 key demographic rating, and the large gain from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 14% compared to last week’s show. Another reason reportedly was due to the large gains from their older female key demographic viewership group, which was up 11.9% compared to last week’s show. This reportedly offset the small decline from their older male key demographic viewership group, which was down 2.6% compared to last week’s show.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the 2023 U.S. Open drew 1,805,000 viewers on ESPN and Real Housewives of Orange County drew 684,000 viewers on BRAVO.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 409,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 was 101,000 viewers (up 20.2%), Females 18-34 was 54,000 viewers (up 3.8%), Males 35-49 was 188,000 viewers (down 2.6%), and Females 35-49 was 66,000 viewers (up 11.9%). Meltzer reported that AEW’s male/female viewership split was 289,000 male viewers and 120,000 female viewers for a split of 70.7% in favor of males.
In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 982,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 730,000 viewers for their eighth quarter.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 14.3% in overall viewership and down 12.8% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 7.7% compared to the same week last year.

The September 1st episode of AEW Rampage saw AEW gain a small increase in overall viewership and key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 372,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 17th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s increases that week was due to the large gains from their younger key demographic viewership group, which was up 40% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly offset the declines from their older male key demographic viewership and older female key demographic viewership groups, which were down 5.6% and 14.7% respectively compared to the prior week’s show.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College Football game of Louisville vs. Georgia Tech drew 1,648,000 viewers on ESPN, the College Football game of Central Michigan vs. Michigan State drew 1,056,000 viewers on FS1, the 2023 US Open drew 962,000 viewers on ESPN2, 90 Day Fiance drew 555,000 viewers on TLC, and House Hunters drew 889,000 viewers on Home and Garden TV.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 145,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 20,000 viewers (up 42.9%), Females 18-34 had 29,000 viewers (up 38.1%), Males 35-49 had 67,000 viewers (down 5.6%), and Females 18-35 had 29,000 viewers (down 14.7%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 87,000 male viewers and 58,000 female viewers for a split of 60% in favor of males.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 23.3% in overall viewership and down 30.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was equal compared to the same week last year.

The September 2nd episode of AEW Collision saw AEW suffer a very large decline in overall viewership and a large decline in key demographic ratings and key demographic rankings.
AEW drew 345,000 viewers and a 0.11 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 18th place.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the main reason for AEW’s declines that week was due to very stiff sports competition from College football and WWE’s Payback 2023 event that night. Another reason reportedly was due to the large declines from all of AEW’s key demographic viewership groups which ranged from being down 15.8% to 47.9% compared to the prior week’s show. This reportedly was the least viewed Collision show in Collision history.
In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the College Football game of Penn State vs. West Virginia drew 3,497,000 viewers on NBC, the College Football game of North Carolina vs. South Carolina drew 3,400,000 viewers on ABC, the College Football game of Texas Tech vs. Wyoming drew 1,425,000 viewers on CBS, the College Football game of New Mexico vs. Texas A&M drew 794,000 viewers on ESPN, Saturday Night Baseball drew 1,925,000 viewers on FOX, and the 2023 US Open drew 692,000 viewers on ESPN2.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 144,000 viewers. AEW’s Males 18-34 had 22,000 viewers (down 43.6%), Females 18-34 had 17,000 viewers (down 19%), Males 35-49 had 80,000 viewers (down 15.8%), and Females 35-49 had 25,000 viewers (down 47.9%). Meltzer reported that the male/female viewership skew was 102,000 male viewers and 42,000 female viewers for a split of 71.5% in favor of males.
