Roderick Strong & Darby Allin Advance in Grand Slam AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament
Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Indianapolis, Indiana featured two Grand Slam AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Quarterfinals matches.
The first AEW World Title Eliminator tournament match featured Roderick defeating Trent Beretta.
The finish to this match involved Strong going to the top rope for a high flying attack only to be stopped by Trent who hit a Frankensteiner. Strong managed to roll through the move and tried to apply a Strong Hold only for Trent to counter it with a roll-up for the nearfall attempt. Trent then hit a Half & Half suplex planting Strong on his head and followed it with a piledriver for a pinfall attempt. Strong broke the pin count with his foot on the rope and hit a jumping knee strike and End of Heartache for the pinfall victory to advance to the next round in the AEW World title Eliminator tournament.
The second AEW World Title Eliminator tournament match featured Darby Allin defeating Nick Wayne.
The finish to this match involved Wayne trying to hit an Avalanche neckbraker to Allin only for Allin to hold onto the turnbuckle causing Wayne to crash onto the mat. Allin then setup for a Coffin Drop but had second thoughts about hitting it on his friend Wayne. Wayne then hit a flash Last Super for a nearfall leading to Wayne attempting a Wayne’s World only for Allin to block the move and countered with a springboard cross body. Allin then hit a Code Red and followed it with a double arm hold to Wayne behind his back while stomping on his head for the submission victory to advance to the next round in the AEW World title Eliminator tournament.
Strong will face off against Allin in an AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Semifinals match at this Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Cleveland, Ohio.
