Deaner Replacing Steve Maclin & PCO’s Status in Doubt for Impact Slammiversary 2023

As noted before, Impact Wrestling recently pulled Steve Maclin from their upcoming Anniversary 2023 event on July 15th in Windsor, Ontario, Canada due to Maclin recently suffering an undisclosed injury.

Monday’s episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast featured the official announcement of Deaner will be replacing Maclin for his scheduled tag team match with Bully Ray against Scott D’Amore & PCO at Slammiversary 2023.

Following the announcement, Impact also announced that PCO’s status for this Saturday’s event is currently in doubt due to “injuries” he suffered from Maclin and Ray’s attack on him during this past Thursday’s Impact show.


MLW Never Say Never 2023 News & Notes

Timothy Thatcher reportedly suffered a concussion injury at Major League Wrestling’s Never Say Never 2023 event this past Saturday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to PWInsider. Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that this was the reason for the referee stoppage finish to Thatcher’s match against Tracy Williams at the event. Johnson reported that Thatcher was checked upon by MLW’s medical team and was feeling okay afterwards.

MLW officials reportedly were very thrilled with the reaction to Don King’s surprise reveal at this past Saturday’s Never Say Never 2023 event, according to PWInsider. Mike Johnson reported that sources spoken to stated that there was a big surge in traffic to MLW’s website after King’s reveal. Those spoken to reportedly stated that King’s appearance was not a one-off and instead MLW officials already have plans to film more content with King.

MLW and FITE TV officials reportedly were happy over how this past Saturday’s Never Say Never 2023 event went down, according to PWInsider.

MLW talent Slice Boogie announced on Twitter that his contract expired this past Sunday and he has left the company.


Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

New Japan Pro Wrestling talent Fred Rosser, former Darren Young in WWE, announced on Twitter that his father passed away at the age of 98 this past weekend.

NJPW recently announced that the first two nights of their upcoming G1 Climax 2023 tournament on July 15th and July 16th will air live for free on their New Japan World service.

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler suffered a stroke incident at his home in Fort Myers, Florida this past February. TMart Promotions recently announced that they have pulled Lawler from his scheduled appearance at The Gathering IV convention on August 3rd in Charlotte, North Carolina due to health-related issues.

Peacock recently released a new trailer for their upcoming new Twisted Metal television series featuring Samoa Joe portraying the physical role of Sweet Tooth.

Impact Wrestling’s Gail Kim and Gisele Shaw were the first team eliminated in the current season of the Amazing Race Canada reality competition television show on CTV.

In a recent interview with the House of Hardcore podcast, former WWE and Impact Wrestling referee Brian Hebner stated that he never had any interest in a potential return to WWE. Hebner stated “Most people would say, ‘Why don’t you go back to WWE?’ I’ll be honest with you, because I don’t wanna f*cking go back there. It wasn’t the best time in my life. Indies wrestler and former AEW talent Fuego Del Sol recently announced on Facebook that he is currently working on plans to open a new wrestling school in Oklahoma. Del Sol stated “Saw that there was a ton of interest on my post about my consideration of opening a wrestling school. So I’ve been talking to some people and preparing a business plan and proper 3 month beginners curriculum, as well as other advanced classes and such.The more I thought about it and really started developing ideas of how it could work and help the state and my area, the more it’s starting to look like a reality.Fuego Dojo coming soon…” In a follow-up post on Twitter, Del Sol statedTried to talk myself out of it. Convinced myself I wasn’t qualified yet, but looking at the options in my state I realized I have a ton of knowledge to pass on and how big of a help I could be. With the proper curriculum and mentorship from successful trainers, why not do it.

Indie wrestler Ashley D’Amboise recently announced on Instagram that she suffered a broken ankle injury at an event for Association les Professionnels du Catch (APC) this past Sunday in Nanterre, France. D’Amboise also gave her thanks for everyone for their support towards her. D’Amboise stated “Thank you to EVERYONE who was there for me tonight. From the floor of the venue to the hospital bed. I can’t express how much it means to me that so many people pulled together to help me. Je vous aime tous.
