As noted before, CM Punk was removed from all mentions of Warner Bros Discovery’s Upfront presentation featuring the official announcement of AEW’s new Collision series. Punk’s removal was due to recent issues over Ace Steel’s backstage status following his re-hiring in AEW and causing AEW’s original plans for the debut show of their new Collision series to be in doubt.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Punk and AEW officials had remained in contact with each other over the past week.
In regards to the recent rumors that Punk had been served with legal papers by AEW, it was reported that those spoken to stated that some documents had been sent to Punk to be signed over the past week. Those same sources reportedly did not state if these documents were legal threats from AEW but it did cover terms about Punk speaking publicly about certain subjects, disparagement clauses, and ensuring that he appears at scheduled television tapings. These terms reportedly were stated to be done largely to legally protect AEW in several situations.
Those spoken to close to Punk reportedly stated that Punk’s talks with AEW over the past week were productive but did not provide a lot of context for it. It was reported that people close to Punk currently believe that he will be at AEW’s debut Collision show on June 17th.
In regards to the recent reports and rumors of Daily’s Place being the backup location for AEW Collision’s debut show, it was reported that AEW officials did not discuss this explicitly but there were others places besides the United Center being discussed as potential backup locations.
Talent spoken to reportedly stated that they had yet to be given their travel-related stuff for Collision’s debut show as of Tuesday.
