WWE Draft

A video recaps Night One of the 2023 WWE Draft on SmackDown.

WWE Hall of Famer Triple H makes his way to the podium. Triple H says it is sold out and loud in Fort Worth. He welcomes us to Monday Night Raw and Night Two of the WWE Draft. This Friday night on SmackDown, things got crazy and shook the WWE down to its foundation. Tonight will be no different.

Before we get into the fun, we need to set ground rules. All remaining undrafted WWE Superstars on Raw and SmackDown are subject to transfer to other brands. Half was drafted on Friday. The remaining half will be drafted tonight. As a result of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns being drafted to SmackDown, we will be crowning a new World Heavyweight Champion. That title and its holder will be exclusive to Monday Night Raw. Out of everybody that is draft eligible, will we see a new champion emerge from these Superstars?

The Monday Draft Pool is shown. There is one superstar that is not eligible to be drafted tonight. That is “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. Earlier today, Lesnar renegotiated his status as a free agent and can appear on any brand at any time. Select Superstars from NXT can also be drafted to Raw or SmackDown. The changes will go into effect on Monday, May 8 (he said March 8).

It’s time to get to drafting. Are you ready? No, he said, “Are you ready?!”

For the first round of the WWE Draft, Monday Night Raw selects SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.

SmackDown selects and secures the United States Championship by selecting Austin Theory.

Next, Monday Night Raw selects the revolutionary and visionary, Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Triple H gets a kick out of the crowd singing Rollins’s theme and conducts them.

Finally, SmackDown selects “The Queen” Charlotte Flair.

In-Ring: Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins, Solo Sikoa

Triple H now introduces “The Wise Man” Paul Heyman. Heyman comes out, and Triple H shows him the new World Heavyweight Championship. Heyman seems impressed and makes his way to the ring.

Paul Heyman gets in the ring, and the crowd loudly boos him. Heyman introduces himself and says he serves as Special Council to your Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. The Tribal Chief has asked him to address a number of business items for the entire WWE Universe to revel in his wisdom. Item Number One: Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman have been drafted to Friday Night SmackDown. That leaves tonight for us to determine the fate of The Usos… The Usos did NOT win back their Tag Team Titles this past Friday from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Heyman will address them in private tonight. The Usos will address their problems this Saturday night in Puerto Rico when they team with a problem solver Solo Sikoa when they face Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Matt Riddle.

These items will not only be addressed by your Wise Man tonight, but one week from this Friday on SmackDown Live (Heyman forgets the city, but hopes it’s not in the State of Texas). The Tribal Chief will take care of all business items. One of them, as a bit of a preview, is that hunk of beautiful gold up on that podium right now. Wouldn’t that title look relevant around the waist of your “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns? The crowd boos. We are almost 1,000 days into a historic title reign. Talk about undisputed. Not just one or two titles… he can have three. If you create a championship, Reigns will take that title into the Main Event. Reigns will not compete for that title because he will not be here on Monday Night Raw. The worst part about that is now the children in the locker room that think they’re men are flapping their gums about Reigns. These are people that should know better. These are men that need to start acting like men. They’re freakin’ jokers and clowns…

“BURN IT DOWN!”

Seth “Freakin” Rollins comes out to a huge reaction and dances near the new World Heavyweight Championship. Heyman looks irate as Rollins gets in the ring. The crowd continues to sing Rollins’s theme song. Rollins asks why Heyman has a long face. Today should be like Christmas. Reigns has been drafted to SmackDown, while Rollins is still on his show, Monday Night Rollins. Reigns doesn’t have to run from him anymore. As for Heyman, he doesn’t have to waste all that energy pulling strings backstage to make sure he doesn’t get a title match again. Heyman can use all that extra energy to make sure the Bloodline doesn’t go “poof” right in his face.

Heyman is a spoiler guy. Rollins knows he loves a good spoiler. At Night of Champions, Rollins is going to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The entire world is finally going to see what a real champion looks like. Heyman takes his phone out and takes a call. We hear Heyman quietly say, “Yes, my Tribal Chief.” Rollins says it’ll be hard to have a phone call with an entire arena full of people singing. The crowd starts singing, and Heyman shouts that he cannot hear his Tribal Chief.

Heyman listens and then puts the phone down. Heyman approaches Rollins and says he is pissing off his Tribal Chief. Rollins feigns sadness. If Reigns doesn’t like that, he really won’t like this. How long does Texas think it’ll take for him to get Heyman down on the canvas so he can stomp his big bald head into the canvas? Maybe 5 seconds? 4? 3? 2?

Solo Sikoa angrily makes his way to the ring. Heyman holds Sikoa back. Heyman says Reigns told him that all strings are being pulled. When we get back from the commercial break, the following match will be confirmed for Fort Worth. It’ll be Seth Rollins going one-on-one with Solo! Rollins says we don’t have to wait to make it official. Rollins simply accepts the challenge. Heyman pulls Sikoa away, and they leave the ring together.

Backstage: Cody Rhodes, Adam Pearce

Footage is shown from earlier today of Cody Rhodes arriving at the arena. WWE Official Adam Pearce tells Rhodes that Brock Lesnar is here and doesn’t want anything to escalate. Rhodes angrily walks off.

Bayley takes Morgan down and goes for an elbow drop, but Morgan moves. Raquel Rodriguez tags in and goes for a body slam, but Bayley slides off. Rodriguez powers Bayley to the corner and shoulders her. Morgan tags in and knees Bayley in the head for a two-count. Morgan stops Bayley from making a tag. Kai distracts the referee, and Bayley takes Morgan down.

We come back from the break to see Kai hit a face wash boot on Morgan in the corner for a near fall. Kai stomps away at Morgan and backs up. Morgan quickly boots Kai and elbows Bayley off the apron. Morgan slingshots over Kai and crawls to Rodriguez, but Kai stops her. Kai pulls Morgan away and hits a vicious forearm to the face. Kai misses a kick, and Morgan tags in Rodriguez.

Rodriguez runs over Kai with some clotheslines. Rodriguez connects with a fallaway slam. Bayley saves Kai from an avalanche, and Rodriguez hits Morgan with another fallaway slam. Rodriguez hits a slingshot elbow drop for a two-count. Morgan tags in and gets on Rodriguez’s shoulders. Bayley sweeps the feet, and Kai gets her knees up to counter a senton from Morgan. Kai hits a nice backstabber, but Rodriguez breaks it up. Kai gets Rodriguez out of the ring. Morgan hits a codebreaker on Kai. Bayley blind tags in. Morgan hits Kai with Ob-Liv-ion. Bayley then runs in and rolls Morgan up for the victory.

Lesnar walks around ringside in his black cowboy hat and trenchcoat. Lesnar gets in the ring and looks coldly into the camera. Lesnar asks Fort Worth, Texas how it feels to be looking at the only real cowboy in the state.

Adam Pearce comes back with a large security force. Pearce says the WWE Draft trumps everything. If Lesnar won’t leave, his gentlemen will help him leave. Lesnar says it’ll take more men than that. More security guards run down. There are about 20 security guards out there. Lesnar looks down at them from the ring.

“Wrestling has more than one royal family.”

Jimmy takes it to Riddle. At ringside, Kevin Owens gets in Jey’s face. Owens all of a sudden falls down. Zayn swings a chair on the ground before throwing it to Jey. Jey catches it.
