AEW: Matt Jackson Suffered Biceps Injury, Tony Khan on Plans to Run More Live Events, Dark Results

Matt Jackson Reportedly Suffered Partially Torn Biceps Injury

Matt Jackson reportedly suffered a partially torn biceps injury earlier this month, according to the Wrestling Observer Radio.

Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that Jackson suffered the injury during the AEW Trios Championship match at the March 15th Dynamite show in Winnipeg, Canada. Jackson reportedly suffered the injury early into the match and worked the remainder of match while injured.

Alvarez reported that Jackson made the decision to not opt for surgery due him currently being hopeful of being able to return sooner than if he had surgery since it would have meant at least a seven months recovery period.

Dave Meltzer reported that AEW officials currently do not have a timetable in mind for Jackson’s in-ring return. Meltzer reported that The Young Bucks injury angle on last week’s Dynamite show was AEW officials way of writing Jackson out of AEW programming for the foreseeable future.

Tony Khan Comments on AEW’s Plans to Run More Live Events Per Year

The Bet Las Vegas & The Sporting Tribune held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts on AEW’s plans to eventually run around 100 live events per year.

“We’re moving towards that number, certainly. There are 52 live Dynamites every week, we’re live on TBS, between those shows, the pay-per-views, the live Rampage specials, and now House Rules events, we’re moving closer and closer to that number.”

Khan also gave his thoughts on if AEW would follow WWE in regards to getting involved in legalized betting for AEW matches.

“We’re already doing it. It’s a little interesting to see all this talk about it because DraftKings has a great partnership with AEW and they’re offering propositions on all events. It’s a huge sponsorship for us with DraftKings, and it’s been happening. If people would like to get action on the big events, specifically Double or Nothing, there are frequently great props and match betting on the Double or Nothing main event and some details around the show. When Double or Nothing comes to Las Vegas, you will be able to wager on it on DraftKings. They are a great sponsor for AEW and it’s been a great partnership. I’ve read some things about potentially more of that kind of action, but from what I’ve seen, there’s already a lot of that going on through our partnership with DraftKings.”
