Jay Briscoe Passes Away at Age 38 [Update]

UPDATE:

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that Jay Briscoe was involved in a car accident at around 5:30PM EST in Delaware and tragically passed away from his injuries suffered. This accident also tragically had cost the life of another person as well.


Jay Briscoe, real name Jamin Pugh, passed away today at the age of 38.

Pugh’s passing was first announced by Ring of Honor Tony Khan on Twitter.

Pugh’s career in wrestling spanned from 2000 to 2022 and was most known for being one half of legendary tag team The Briscoe Brothers alongside his real life brother Mark Briscoe, real name Mark Pugh. Pugh was also primarily known for his time in Ring of Honor from 2002 to 2022 and his career included notable stints in New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling.

Among the notable accolades and achievement Pugh earned throughout his wrestling career included being a two-time ROH World Champion, thirteen-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, one-time ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion, two time Honor Rumble winner, induction into ROH’s Hall of Fame as a member of their 2022 class, winner of the 2007 Wrestling Observer’s Tag Team of the Year award, one-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, two-time NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion, one time Impact World Tag Team Champion, and three-time GCW World Tag Team Champion.
