CM Punk, AEW producer Ace Steel, the Young Bucks’ Matt and Nick Jackson, and Kenny Omega reportedly were involved in a backstage fight following AEW’s All Out 2022 event on Sunday, according to the Wrestling Observer and Fightful Select. This incident followed CM Punk’s rant at Colt Cabana, Hangman Adam Page, and AEW’s EVPs during AEW’s All Out 2022 post-show media scrum.
Both the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez and Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that their sources stated that there was a heated exchange between Punk and Matt Jackson backstage that turned physical after Punk took swings at Jackson. Ace Steel reportedly then got involved and allegedly threw a chair at Nick Jackson, hitting him in the eye, and bit and grabbed Omega by the hair.
The Observer reported that AEW officials have not responded to their questions asking for more details and clarity over the situation due to potential legal issues from those involved in the fight.
Sapp reported that some of his sources stated that Nick Jackson ended up getting “rocked” or knocked out after getting hit with a chair and Steel also allegedly bit Omega in the arm during the fight. It was also reported that several people such as Christopher Daniels and Pat Buck also got involved trying to deescalate the situation backstage. One source spoken to described the backstage incident as “a lot of cursing, a lot of mayhem, and a lot of people not being willing to hash it out.”
Sapp also reported that AEW has had a few other fights take place backstage that were previously not publicly known prior to Eddie Kingston’s recent light physical altercation with Sammy Guevara that resulted in Kingston’s suspension for a couple of weeks.
