WWE: Gunther on Ring Name Change & Weight Loss, Edge’s New Heel Stable Update, Rick Boogs Update

Gunther Comments on NXT Ring Name Change & Weight Loss

WrestlingInc.com held a recent inerview with NXT talent Gunther. Some of the topics discussed included Gunther’s thoughts about his recent ring name change in WWE and his recent weight loss.

On the topic of if he had any issues with his recent NXT ring name change from WALTER, Gunther stated:

“Not all to be honest. If it would be the other way around, and it would be Gunther before and Walter now, it would have been the same uproar. A lot of people react negatively to change. Change is normal in life, and it’s part of it, and we have to go with it.”

On the topic of his recent weight loss in NXT, Gunther stated:

“I guess I eat less. I always worked out a lot, but for the first time, I have really focused on my nutrition. These guys really pushed me. I’ve got to say, when I was a wrestling fan, I always liked the look of the solid heavyweights in Japan who had a little bit of a gut carrying around, just brawls and stuff like that. But, at the end of the day, you’ve got to go with the times, and evolve a little bit, and that’s what I did.”

More on Edge’s New Heel Stable for WWE’s RAW Brand

As noted before, WWE has been working on plans for Edge to become the leader of a new major heel stable for their RAW brand. This new stable debuted at their WrestleMania 38 Night 2 event this past Sunday, which featured Damian Priest helping Edge defeated AJ Styles.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE officials recently held talks over the idea of Rhea Ripley and Tommaso Ciampa both potentially joining Edge’s new group.

Rick Boogs Injury Status Update

As noted before, Rick Boogs suffered a serious knee injury at WWE’s WrestleMania Night 1 event this past Saturday in Arlington, Texas. Boogs suffered the injury following a spot where he tried to lift both Jimmy and Jey Uso on his shoulder at the same time, which caused his knee to buckle and give out.

Boogs recently provided an update on Instagram thanking the fans for all of their love and support towards him following his ordeal.

“From the highest of highs to lowest of lows. Having my beautiful wife with me to experience my first Wrestlemania. Getting the incredible opportunity to open the show! Being able to demonstrate brute strength in front of millions of viewers! Unfortunately, the doctor told me my quad was too strong for the tendon and it was flexing so hard, it ripped the tendon totally off the bone. I’m still incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the love and support. History proves I will come back bigger, better, and stronger. IT’S A MINDSET.”
