Alberto El Patron, former Alberto Del Rio in WWE, held a press conference this past Monday in Mexico City, Mexico. Among the topics discussed included El Patron’s thoughts about him being recently cleared of all the kidnapping and sexual assault charges against him from an incident involving his ex-fiance in May of 2020 in San Antonio, Texas.
During the press conference and in a recent interview with Lucha Libre Online, El Patron also issued a threat directed at WWE’s Paige. El Patron claimed that he currently owns footage that would get Paige fired from WWE if she ever talked negatively about him and their troubled past relationship in public again.
“The people who have wanted to damage me have been left behind, I don’t focus anymore on that… I can’t hold onto grudges. I don’t have any interest in countering them…But if I wanted to in my hands I have the power to take [Paige] out of her job in two seconds. I can bring out one of her videos of domestic violence and she would not go back to work. I don’t have any interest in that.
I continue to thank God that Paige broke the confidentiality agreement that we had. Today I am the one who can expose her and show the world who she is if she messes with me. I want my life in peace. I don’t want anything about me on the internet, I don’t want anyone talking. [Paige] can stay calm and no one will see your videos kicking my face and neck. That stays forgotten if you don’t talk about me.”
El Patron also claimed that he would be working for one of the three biggest promotions in the United States in 2022.
Following El Patron’s press conference, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that those recently spoken to within WWE, Major League Wrestling, and Impact Wrestling stated that none of their companies are interested in the idea of signing El Patron to a deal. Sapp also reported that several AEW talent recently spoken to stated that they are unaware of any talks regarding the idea of AEW being interested in El Patron ever being brought up.
I’ve spoken with people from WWE, MLW, Impact who say they either have no interest in bringing Del Rio in or would be shocked if it happens.
